My 60 days.

So I'm fast approaching the closing stages of my initial supporter membership and think it's time for me to take stock of the experience and decide whether to continue or not.

It's been interesting to say the least but not what I expected in the slightest.

I've realised that success for a guy is generally a numbers lottery which I can't entertain.

I'm very picky which eliminates a lot of profiles from me.

I read profiles carefully which in turn eliminates me from a lot of profiles.

I have had very few messages ignored, (if any) which is in some small measure a testament to the effort I make in sending.

I've met a lady for coffee who is no longer on site (not my fault I promise)

I met a lady to fix her laptop (because I'm genuinely nice like that)

And been stood up by a cpl who not only wasted my time, but also caused me to drink 3 coffees and wired me for the rest of the day.

I've been approached by a number of gents wanting my attentions too which whilst flattering, concerns me that I seem more attractive to the same sex than the opposite!

So..what to do?

I think given the short time I've had here many would say stick it out, but I doubt in the next 60 days there will be a surge of new members joining with either any interest in me or visa versa.

Oh, I've also found the forum incredibly interesting, humorous, abrasive and worth the time!

5 days and counting. It's been fun folks xxx

You do know that you don't need to renew if you don't want to and you can still use the site? And the forums.

If you're waiting for people to say "please stay" you could be in for a long wait. You seem to have had some enjoyment from the site, so to rejoin doesn't cost a fortune and who knows what the next couple of months will bring. Only you can decide.

The land of grey peas and bacon

You don't have to be a site supporter to use the forums or the site and it's not as if you are forking out £50 to re subscribe. If you feel that the site is not for you then leave or hide profile, take a break and come back later. This site is how you make it and it's up to you what you get out of it...

Paying to become a Gold and Silver Site supporter is optional, the site is free therefore if you like the site and get enjoyment from using it you do not have to leave.

Hmm, ok let in better detail.

I do know the extras and freebies that the cost offers.

That's not the issue.

I am in no way asking for the sympathy 'please stay' response..I'm not that shallow, needy or pathetic.

I'm merely using the forum for this post to show my findings, and my opinion of my experience here so far.

The question of renewal is based around these points.

I was, in short, trying to create a post that some would find interesting to read

I have seen on the forums socials advertised in Sheffield and York. Both up your way why not try these out and see if you can make some contact with local people?

Titz Towers, North Notts

There is a social in Wakefield, one in Bradford, there's a knees up at the Attic in Derby a week on Saturday that's looking really promising. OP, you are dead a long time, so make the most of this whilst you can. Apart from that, what else would you be doing that requires as much or as little of your time as you're willing to commit, with such potential for fun?

And all for the throw of a dart.

I don't think he's complaining, more trying to justify paying again if he's not getting any benefit from it. Possibly

Mines up in 2 days.

Tomorrow I'll start a thread in every sub forum venting my anger and frustration at how my John Thomas is being neglected by everyone except me and that I will be leaving for good.

And the day after I'll just pay my 5 quid

It all depends if your using your site supporter to the full, do you intend to post more pictures, do you use the chatrooms often, or do you only use the who's looked at me and who's near option.

If the latter is the case then your not using the feature to the full, so your not getting value for money and it would not be worth you continuing to use the support feature.

I'm not moaning about paying a fiver at all. At no point in any of my comments did I grumble or whine about cost.

You seem quite determined to be argumentative in my opinion mate.

I didn't whinge about no meets either, I explained quite succinctly why I'm not inundated with offers, a point I both accept and embrace.

Perhaps you should go back to my OP, sit calmly for a moment and read it again....

You believe that success is merely a "numbers lottery" - this may go some way to explaining your lack of same,

Unfortunately they think everyone is a complainer and see it where it isn't. Or they just like being antagonistic maybe.

Why make the point if you don't back it up? There is no need to pay for membership. You are the one that posed the question should you stay after your 60 days are up. There is no relevance between paying for silver membership and staying on the site. You either want to stay or you want to go. You either want to pay for the extras or you don't. Two entirely separate questions. Neither of which anyone on here can answer for you. This type of thread is post by one of two types of people. Those that need validation and want to be begged to stay or those that want to flounce off in a huff only to return a week later.

I'm obviously neither.

I'm passing on my experiences of my 60 days on here for others to read and either be entertained, or bored by.

I make no complaints, just observations through my time here.

I felt that as a forum user, my observations would be of interest to some who may have similar experiences.

I never said anything like " It's rubbish here, I got nothing and think it's a waste of time"

Or "I paid and got Bugger all" etc etc etc as I've seen in copious amounts on here.

I explained reasonably why I have limited success and thought others who were in the same boat would appreciate the viewpoint.

I light heartedly discussed what meets I have had, and didn't create any kind of offensive dialogue to anyone.

I feel you may fall into a batch of forumites on here who are a few phrases short of being a troll.

Diving straight in with negativity and attempts to belittle, without actually taking the time to assess or understand the angle intended.

£5 is great value for money in my opinion, no meets is better than rubbish meets and stimulating conversation is way more entertaining than...insults

To be honest my friend , I think I read your op as intended , a snap shot of your experience on here . I thought it considered and objectively written and I viewed it as a reflection of your experience and not a criticism of anything .I'd say you're right some did not really read your op more, they just decided they would kick you.

Your perspective that for some of us to be selected may be a lottery is a valid one , that's not saying you are right or wrong it could have made an interesting discussion point

One month I have sent a well crafted message to a lady it appeared I should be compatible , deleted , sent another a month later , deleted sent another, 2 months later and a reply and onward to a meet . Lucky ? Some if not many on here would have advised not to message again my experience is that is poor advice x

Because on a sanctimonious high horse that high, it's a long way down to be heard?

Sanctimonious? How did you come to that conclusion? I thought he was just sharing thoughts and offering up a discussion. I read no bitterness,no complaints or sanctimony in his OP"

Fair enough, I did though. Which is why Internet forums are full of pitfalls as, of course, you can't see the body language or tone of voice a comment was written in.

My interpretation was based on the (to my mind unnecessary) capitalisation of the word 'married' followed by 4 exclamation marks. But I accept my interpretation may have been wrong?
