Hello you sexy Fab geeks and geekettes!!

I have a nexus 7 (2013) and watch Netflix etc on it but I'd like to stream it on my TV. I bought a slimport adaptor off Amazon but it doesn't work

I think it has miracast so have been looking for adaptors on amazxon but was wondering if I need a snazzy TV for it to work?

I got my dad a cheaper tablet off amazon and also google chrome cast so he could make his not so smart tv smarter

It works a treat so no need to my a wifi ready tv.

Think I can do either but thought yuou were more restricted by chrome cast as you can't wtrewam content stored on the device?

Latest Sony Xperia androids have have a built in 'throw' feature. I play or look at something on the phone screen and hit the throw button and bang, it connects to the tv and appears on the screen, via blue tooth.

it basically let's you mirror whatever you are looking at in your tablet.

I bought a slimport adaptor that has mini USB to HDMI but for the love of jebus I can't get it to work with my tablet

it has a usb connector too and works fine with laptops etc so think the tablet is not HDMI compatible maybe?!

Grrrr now I've been researching and the Chromecast doesn't need the host devices screen to be on which sounds better, why do they make choices so hard?! Lol

I think the Nexus 7 (2013) had a bug in it's slimport implementation. There are loads of different makes, if you had a budget one that may be the issue.

Double check it's 2013 and not 2012. Pretty sure the 2012 version didn't support HDMI output.
