Galaxy Tabs are ok, also have a look at Google Nexus range of tablets, theyre not overbloated with apps out of the box, which will eat some of the storage space.

Updates for Nexus devices run stock Android, which tend to consume less resources (memory/storage space etc).

Samsung devices have a large number of OS customisations which tend to delay Android update rollouts also.

We bought our 4 and 6 year olds a Samsung galaxy 2 each(fed up with the rows over the i pad). I would avoid the cheap end of the market as we tried these first and took them back as they did not do half of what we wanted them to do...

Tesco hudl are value for money. Our son has had one for a year. It does everything an 11 year old could want. And their customer service is brilliant they sent a replacement next day when the bit you plug the charger into broke.

Can I just ask what your 4 and 6 year old would want to do that the cheaper ones wouldn't do?

We all have samsung galaxy tabs and they are brilliant, do everything we want them to, fast and despite being used everyday in an outdoor working enviroment they are still going strong

And there's the new improved huddle out now too ... bigger screen and better spec

User yahoo vouchers and get them for £65 each

If you push to 180, the 8.4 Inch Galaxy tabs are likely the best on the market.

If your more fussed with affordability, the Tesco Hudl is good, but I personally never would due to performance issues.

I highly recommend buying direct from the Samsung website - PC world and others don't have the newest models yet, take it from the IT guy ; )

Others have mentioned the Hudl, and to be honest we had some reservations about whether they would be fast enough considering the relatively low-spec processor. We went ahead and got them and, after almost a year of use, the kids are still delighted. They play a lot of relatively heavy games and have never once complained of poor performance. Amazing kit for the money, and from a brand/supplier you can trust.
