Just what I need

My dishwasher packed up a few months ago - no big deal, I can do it by hand.

Yesterday finally pulled the thing out and hooked it up in the garage to have a look at it to figure out the problem.

Found the problem - dodgy inlet valve, now just need to get replacement part.

Mind you, not bad for a machine that I picked up through free ads four years ago and that turns out to have been built in 1988.

My washing machine also requires attention. Think the bearings are knackered again (done them twice in the last four years - but they're a known issue on this machine)

So it's chucking it down outside.

And I have a lake forming in the garage. Great.

So I think, well OK, at least I can disconnect the washing machine and begin strip down in the kitchen.

So, I disconnect the cold feed and flood the kitchen.

The plastic handle on the washing machine tap thingy had came slightly loose from the valve, so that when I turned it off, only the handle moved.

After a second of panic- I go turn the mains water off, mop up the water and sort out the problem with the valve so I can get the water back on.

It never rains but it pours

I feel your pain. Blocked waste pipes and water backing up into the washing machine. Toilet cistern not filling up properly so chucking buckets of water down because the screw has rusted holding the cover on

I didn't know what most of that meant...but sounds like a pain!

I had a leak in my ensuite and water was pouring into my lounge. Had to have the plasterboard all torn down and replaced and replastered. Not fun.
