first message: application or invitation?

Seems to me that most women don't need to actively search for men, they only need to filter their messages. So this leads to, basically, men *applying* for attention and the woman's reply being, well, an *invitation to interview*.

Am I viewing this too harshly? What are your thoughts?

Cheeseville, Somerset

But the ones that go searching themselves after blocking incoming messages will generally find it easier to meet guys that fit their preferences!

"'Audition' I think!

yes that is a better way of putting the initial replies, I agree !!

I put thougt into those first messages and, like applications, get a fraction of those replied to. Most of these replies are quick, standard one-liners giving the impression that the woman probably hasn't read the message properly before moving onbto.her.next unread message. It's no wonder some people resort to short, blunt openers like *fancy a shag?* Still not my style but ......

To be honest, I've always found the forums the best place to make an informed decision. And if I like the look of someone, I'll message them. Its a 2 way street as far as I'm concerned

Lol you're right....I've seen a single woman's profile with a proforma for the applicants to complete. Supply and demand I guess!

My most successful encounters have come after being headhunted. Job application success rate improved when I radically improved my CV and covering letter. Humour worked wonders

Am beginning to agree, here at least you have the added bonus of reading active text from.the person as well as viewing their profile x

Deffo a two-way street, am glad someone agrees

"Fab Factor "

P.S. Am always open to suggestions from ladies about how to improve my profile

Obviously a prrofile can't attract / interest everyone (same as personal taste and preference between 2 people) but if you have any comments about mine, please feel free to message them to me.xx

I used to live in Germany, and one woman I met on an online dating site was an exception: she was the only one I can describe as an ordeal. We met once on a Sunday afternoon and within a couple of days she had become a.stalker. Messaging me constantly declaring her love, demanding to see ne again. If it hadn't been so worrying, it would have been funny, reminded me of the joke the Andy McDowell character played ok Hugh Grant's in 4 Weddings after their first night of sex

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I used to have my profile as a job advert seeking applicants. It was my most successful profile for getting messages from men and those messages being good ones.

In almost all species the male is the hunter when it comes to sex, from extravagant peacocks to through humans in bars to online i.e. Fab, it's up to the females to show availability and the males to compete for the attention. Some females have grown tired of this and stalk their own prey, but the majority hang around the watering hole looking available and watch the males compete. can't fight David Attenborough

Supply and demand!

It seems there are too many men but very few women and out of those very few most has no single men filter.
