I remember when the word bless was followed by you after someone had sneezed

my new colleague wants to bless me and every one else regularly

i have tried

"do people still say that"

"when did you get ordained"

"who do you think you are -the Pope"

come on fabsters help me before i go insane

Folks used to think.sneezing was bad spirits so you we're blessed when u sneeze. Think that's where it comes from

Everyone had their own little tics - he's probably not even aware of it and even though you have mentioned it, it's very hard to 'untrain' yourself to do something you've done for years.

The chances are you do things in your everyday life that annoy the buggery out of people, I know I do in mine!

But I do appreciate that if it grates your nerves it can start to become unbearable to live with

I still say it, I thought it stemmed from the plague, and sneezing was the first sign of infection so, if someone sneezed, they blessed them 'cause it was curtains'

I've said it at work to Jews, Muslims, a Buddhist. I've never had anyone complain about it.

You can either tell them you aren't superstitious, or make a note of how many times she says it and then fine her. Alternatively, every time she says it, shout out the number of a card and ask if that is the card she is thinking of. She'll get bored of that before you do. Throwing chairs may be going a bit far.
