I also make my own soup, its piss easy.

However, this dosent tell us anything about what flavour it is.

The OP really wants to find out what our fav kind is, Im not sure why she wants to know this, but she does.

For the OP's benefit and for mine (I dont want to be up all night thinking which flavour the homemade soup is, tossing and turning, trying to workout if its Chicken or Beef, maybe even vegatable stock based) please can you give more info into what type of homemade soup it is.

Soup is serious business and you shouldn't just chat shit about it willy nilly.

try this one out its Stunning

For 4 people /Little olive oil 100g chorizo , cut into small chunks

1 large onion , chopped

2 carrots , halved lengthways and thickly sliced

2 stalks celery , halved lengthways and thickly sliced

1 tsp smoked paprika

big pinch chilli flakes

6 tbsp red or green lentils

1 x 400g tin chickpeas , drained and rinsed

750ml chicken stock

parsley (optional)

Heat 1 tbsp of olive oil in a pan. Fry the chorizo for 2 minutes, add the onion and cook for 5 minutes. Add the carrot and celery and cook for 5 minutes. Add the paprika and chilli flakes, and cook for a minute, then add the lentils, chickpeas and stock.

Simmer for 20-25 minutes until the lentils and veg are tender. Finish with chopped parsley if you like.

If it's Heinz - mushroom.

Covent Garden - spicy lentil.

Homemade - chicken, vegetable and leek with granary crusty bread.

Soup has to be eaten off a tray too - maybe that's because generally it's associated with being poorly.

Have to agree on the old classic, tomato soup. Lovely with crusty bread, but even better dipping in salt & vinegar crisps

I have a tin of the new spicy ones, not tried it yet though...Moroccan carrot and coriander.

Having said that I dont know if theyve changed the recipe to reduce the salt or sugar or something but it just doesnt taste the same to me these days. Same with Heinz spaghetti.

South Birmingham waiting for the bf to come back after crimbo

Full of a stinking rotten cold here so I've been on a soup phase all day, chicken soup for breakfast and teatime, as well as tomato with worcestershire sauce at lunchtime and about an hour ago. Each time with big chunks of gorgeous crusty bread.

I've thoroughly enjoyed having a soup day, so I'm going to repeat it tomorrow, not least coz I've not had the energy to cook anything proper to eat and I can have it in a mug rather than a bowl, just to make it even more simple
