I have had an account with the Halifax since birth. Initially it was a book account receiving interest, but then changed to a regular card cash account.

I have been looking around to try and have my money work for me, and came across a Reward Current Account. It gives you £5 (net) a month.. £60 a year providing you have £750 a month going in and 2 standing orders/direct debits.

Bar a period of unemployment, I have had no interest on my 'savings' for over 15 years!

Have a look at what accounts your bank can offer you. I have keet the same pin and account number, it just upgrades and rolls on without having to change anything.

Any other money saving tips??? Best ISA's?

Have a look at the Money Advice Service website (at least I think that's what it's now called). Gives all sorts of options based on personal circumstances and funds available. It's impartial and free.

Topcashback/quidco are great for earning extra spending money if you shop alot online.

Get all your friends to join off a referral link an extra £5 !

Hotukdeals to find best bargains for everything!

If I can save a couple of pence using a voucher I will. Drives hubby insane til I got £80 worth of shopping for alot less than half

This is how I live too - it could have been me writing this.

Plus, always review your financial commitments and savings to ensure you're spending and keeping your money wisely. Don't over insure, it's of no help.

If you're a flexible person it can be easy to save money. Spend and live differently to the herd.

Extreme couponing is something an American friend on fb does. She regularly posts pictures of the things shes been able to get with coupons. There's often counter tops full of everything from nail varnish to washing powder, fruit, veg pizzas and then she will post how much it has cost her. Usually something like $35 or something a lot less than the true value.

Dont think we have this kind of thing over here though?

Be wary of the T's and C's with any account/card offering financial cash back.

Often there's minimum spends, monthly fees or other tie ins that will negate any benefit!

The banks don't give cash away for nothing!!

Appreciate what you are saying completely. The halifax account at least just needs you to stay in a positive balance. It has no overdraft facility and I always have my CC if I need a fallback

I had factored this in, and I am still working out the cost/benefit ratio. But I bought the shampoo and gel on offer..?

Buy your groceries in Aldi or Lidl and follow them on Twitter or Facebook.to find out when they are offering a fiver off a forty pound shop in certain newspapers. Aldi do this monthly and also include 50% coupons for other products.
