When people message you asking you what you are into? I have interests listed on my profile. And I'm on here should them give a clear view of what I'm into.. Just gets on my tits to be honest

Or am I over reacting slightly??

Because a lot of people don't fill out their profiles properly, so maybe they assume others take the same lack of care? Despite the fact some profiles look well thought out before being published

I always check people's interests but I think it's the last thing a lot of people look at.

I.e read profile, check pics first.

Aye all are vaild points. But said message wasn't even opening message. Need to do a rewrite if my profile to be honest. Not that it got read when I had a filler longer profile. My block list will be getting longer.

i think they send those type of messages cos behinmd it all they really dont kn ow what to say in an opening message! i can understand it does get very annoying alright after about a thousand in the one d ay

It is. Even more so on my pervious profile text I had listed certain things as well. Some people are just totes annoying. Get me no matter where you are.

It kinda highlights the people who haven't read your profile so I guess makes the block button easier to hit.

No you aren't.. Drives me mental too. I have on my profile please don't ask me this question and it still gets asked.. So I think I'm within my rights to delete those messages because they obviously haven't got as far as the text so don't really deserve an answer!

All received from recent new contacts with well written profiles themselves. Just smacks of laziness and lack of imagination. We don't even read messages like that anymore, if we see that in the first line it goes straight to the bin.

I think it's more a case of feeling like people aren't taking notice of your profile.

It's frustrating when people don't read and just see your pictures and say "I would" whilst clicking the message button.

I tend to read a profile and if they interest me, choose something I want to know more about and use that as an opener

I personally (note:only opinion) think its a lazy persons conversation starter. Its up there with "hi how are you" . Saying that its anazing how many people just have "hi" or "ask me" as their profile rext... ask you what?? Why your socially inept or why english is a foreign concept to you? I find it to be a minor irritant and it marks the sender down in my estimation.

I'd rather get "hi, how are you". Anything you'd say to me if you saw me in a bar and wanted to chat that wouldn't get you slapped will work for me. The huge essays are a turn off as as the oh so witty, highly worked comments.

A simple hello is sufficient to send to check out the profile. Then I will decide either no, maybe or hell yes! If it's on of the latter two then what is said in the following conversation is far more important to me then the greeting.

Doesn't annoy us - just highlights the fact they haven't bothered reading the profile text - as we make specific reference to this!

Just makes it a far speedier decision to hit delete and block

) then it would get boring but on the other hand long msgs can be too esp when the 1st thing you do is look at the profile pics. I'm overjoyed with a 'hiya'

In the ideal fab world we'd want people to read our profile, digest the information & send a well composed message, well the majority don't.

no point getting annoyed just use it as another filter, delete without reading.

along with boo, hiya, how's you, I'm in a hotel, do you take it up the **** etc etc!

I think this thread highlights the problems of being a solo. You can't politely enquire how someone is- delete and blocked, no using a witty opener as people say its cut and paste - delete and blocked, you can't ask someone to expand on a list of preferences - delete and blocked...

A solo must come up with something, funny/ interesting and relevant for every message that he sends out... Even then get judged on avatar picture without having own profile checked out - delete and blocked!

Ultimately solos get judged in the same way

As is replying to "Hi" with "Bye". Bless em, they get so confused!

Not really.

A simple indication that you've read a profile suffices - introducing yourself and a one line explanation of why you 'may' be of interest is good enough.

Doesn't guarantee you won't get deleted or blocked. And you're right - many will view a profile before opening a message and if your avatar/profile isn't appealing/interesting to the viewer then you're off to a bad start already.

It's life on the internet - not just Fab!

I write first messages a few times actually.. I just never ever ask someone what they are into.. Just bluntly. It's annoying when I have interests on my page. First messages vary from profile to profile. With the volume of messages I get it can be annoying if say 6 outta 10 ask me what I'm interested in.. Makes me wanna scream. I just now hit delete.

I think some look at your profile and mail and it turns them on in some way asking what your into ... But like you say why its on your profile. x

I get extremely annoyed now when people seem unable to comprehend that I only do first meets at a club so I feel safe and can relax properly. Although extremely clear on my profile, some men either don't have the balls to meet there or think I will make a special exception for them because APPARENTLY they are a copper etc. Grrrrr.

Well maybe overacting a tad as i always read profiles and more than once I've read some replied based on what they've listed/written in their profile and then got told "you haven't read our profile" so now it makes me think that some people just put down whatever to try and make their profile stand out etc

Most of our opening messages are similar in nature they go, hello, we find your profile interesting especially x thing. We are gaz and Elle have a look at our profile and if interested message back, signed gaz and Elle + face pics.

Now that's a better opening message. Than what are you into.

Makes for a better read.

As for what I would like someone to say why list here? I like people to use their own initiative and write a message that isn't such as 'hi' or 'hi how are you' or what are you into? Etc. maybe ask me what I'm looking for from fab? As some people are only looking for sex where I like the social side too. Makes the sex better if you get to know someone first.
