You want one either metal or silicon, tight enough to restrict blood flow. Also wants to be broad enough band so that it doesn't bite into to skin.

Try 1.75 inch circumference, at least 1/4 inch wide.

I'd hate anyone to choose any kind of jewellery for me. And if it cost more than £100 he'd have to take it back as I'd never wear it.

Go to the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham. Loads of choice or have one made to order. Plus the prices are reasonable

Buy the diamond first rather than the whole ring the you can if u want design your own ring with a good jeweller to set it.

With the diamond it's it always about how much it sparkles hehe check what they say the 4 c's I can't remember them all but it goes along line of carat clarity etc

Cheaper in terms of quality products and in long run a better and more meaningful design from you to your loved one Nd better quality

Know her style. You don't always have to be traditional. My engagement ring has a blue diamond. I have never, nor have ever claimed to be "normal".

We got engaged this year and I put about 2 months of planning and searching into the ring and how to propose.

I went for a custom made ring in the end as you can get exactly what you want. I got a half carat princess cut E grade diamond cast in platinum . I wouldn't worry too much about clarity as you can only tell under 10x magnification. Colour and cut are the most important

Choose the metal you want and away you go

Avoid chain jewellers from my experience their pieces aren't as good quality as independent shops

We went shopping together and told the jeweller what stone and metal we wanted. We chose an amethyst set in a cluster of diamonds in white gold.
