Now then. . Why are these so called smart phones a bit of a red herring . . ? Since they've become popular it seems that people's typo error rate has snowballed ! Of course you always get the 'damn silly phone' excuse . . But have people stopped reading anything before they send it ? I think i'll keep my trusty nokia. . Nice normal keypad combined with touch screen . . Just the job !

Surely, it's not entirely the phones fault! Ok so it is rather too easy to hit the wrong key when typing on a piece of glass, but doesn't that just mean one has to be more careful when proof reading what has been typed?

indeed . . Just that ! I love how they even swap the word typed for something completely different. No amount of technology can work out context and catch phrases/in jokes or words

Do you expect it to be sentient and help you out?

That'd be good but I don't want some AI deciding what I can and can't do.

Maybe most people just don't care. I use a Nokia Lumia smartphone. I'm very happy with the predictive texting. I almost don't need to type anything.

There should be a proof reading app

Crikey, if the darn things were sentient, we'd spend all our time arguing with them.

As for AI, it's already here - all those lovely Sat Nav systems or Google Maps direction thingy are based on updated 90's AI theory mixed with GIS, and people happily follow their instructions.

quite the opposite ! If people refuse to proof read. . Then smart phones should quit inserting words and trying to complete sentences etc . . Just my two quid's worth !

I read everything before I send it, probably because of previous jobs I have done. Still send mad things occasionally, but not too often. Although I find texts with mad auto corrects in them, are often the funniest and result in mad conversations!
