Think it's a real shame they don't seem to have them much if at all now apart from prom which isn't the same.

Watching totp 80's special n it's bringing back so many happy memories (yea yea giving my age).

Buying the ticket at school n storing in a secret safe place, thinking what to buy/wear so you're dressed fashionably but don't look like you're trying too hard or worse copying the cool crowd! Trying to sneak make up out to put on in the loos as soon as you arrive, making sure you know all the words and moves to the right songs (remember this was the era of charades dancing - she says just as communards don't leave me this way comes on which had a line dance) , making sure mum n dad didn't drop u off too close to school so u could pretend u were allowed to go alone. Making parents promise not to come in if you were late out (and learning to tell them in future that it finished half hour later than it does n end up standing in the rain instead). Wondering if a boy would ask you to dance the last track - always a slow dance, and if they did would they kiss you...

Your memories?

My Ice Castle! South Wales

My local primary school does but I don't think the comprehensive does. Loved school discos

Yea but there was lots of other music for the 70's ones, abba, bay city rollers, David Cassidy, David Essex, the osmonds, loads of actual 'disco' music like the late Donna summer

We were allowed shandy at our school discos. Lots of running around and the resident "stud" dancing with the pretty girls

Never had a school disco, didn't even have a school leaving party!

I have to say though that I really hate this school prom thing that has been imported from the USA!

Who in their right mind would play a Mary Hopkin record at a school disco?

London.

I went to a single sex school but school disco's linked up with the local boys school. The nervous excitement and clothing decision was painful yet pleasurable. Then trying to be nonchalant there and not be a clumsy mare if you saw the boy you fancied.

Our school discos were all denim, leather and patchouli oil. Heavily influenced by rock and punk. Rainbow Eyes was the standard slowie at the end. It was a boys school but we invited the girls from the local girls school. Some nice romantic memories too

So which school did you go to in huddersfield Canis/mush/John? I'm betting Royds Hall or Sally Nook.

I hated Sally nook it was windy as fuck and the purple tie thing clashed with my eyes so not been back to a reunion though did drive over the lower playing fields in my early 20's doing doughnuts.

I remember my stepbrother pushing me down the stairs a few hours before the disco and I banged my head on the radiator. I had a great radiator shaped bruise on my head xD

I was wearing a sparkly purple cropped cardigan with a sparkly black top. And sparkly black tights with a sparkly black skirt and sparkly black shoes.

None of the boys ever asked me to dance although one did try to kiss me and then chased me into the girls loos!

Come to think of it, nobody has ever asked me to dance with them
