Just wondered what it is and how safe it is to download as I've had a message from someone who won't add his face picture to here due to his job but has it in this drop box thing.

the good lands, the bad lands, the any where you may want me lands

use Dropbox all the time, can't say that its 100% safe, but I've never had anything that I've had reason to concern at the time or later. I'd go as far as to recommend it for file transfer. Good luck and enjoy Dropbox

It's used a lot in the modeling industry for photographers to send images to models etc so can't see it being insecure tho nothing is totally secure against a brute force attack . We use it for the above to both send and recieve images

North of The Wall - youll need your vest

We use it for work stuff so I think its fairly secure, but personally I wouldnt use it for here because you have to 'accept' the other person before you can share files and Im always suspicious about people being able to access my details/privacy etc

why don't you suggest to them that they upload their photo to a ftp server, then give you the password to go in and take that image out

I'm a bit of a techno thickie so I worry when something has the option to 'share on Facebook' - I'm terrified that pictures might end up on there that I definitely don't want to be shared with my family and vanilla friends.

None of our more risque pics go onto Dropbox for that reason.

Why not set up another email address? They're free!

No need to give your own then!

I've told him that but he quoted his strict HR policies as he works with lawyers and I mentioned some on here are the same but not replied yet. Just think I shan't bother with faffing around as I might download it to find he's not for me or worse, a bloody virus

I'd just set up a new email address that's totally separate from any of your existing ones and not linked to any of your social media accounts. Seems easier than faffing around with Dropbox. His excuse sounds a bit dubious to me too...

Makes me wonder how he managed when he was on here before

Dunno of this was 100% down to Dropbox but around the time I started to use it, my laptop began to take longer to boot up.

Deleting Dropbox seems to have cured the issue.

Personally wouldn't bother with someone that won't send an attached face picture. Just screams fake to me

He's been verified and have checked, given who she has been verified, definitely not fake

Privacy is a big concern to some of us. The idea of a totally unlinked email account whose name is not in any way used to you is ideal for this situation - i have had one for a while. That email account is used for nothing but naughtiness so it can't link back to you / your mobile / your email in any way. Similarly though if you want yo use whatsapp, you need to ensure your facebook privacy settings are set so that people can't "find friends" via a mobile number.

Be careful of giving out mobile/email addresses unless you trust a person
