Can you have trust in a relationship without honesty?

Let's hear from the people who are totally honest in all situations. People who aren't afraid to say:

"yes, your bum looks big in that"

" I saw you fuck that tattooed slut. Your technique was so poor"

"You're an awful cook"

"You've an awful cock"

Etc.

Are you equally honest in all your relationships?

There is a difference between honesty and being mean.

An interesting question reading responses to this will be fascinating.

hiding from cock pics.

That's seems more antagonism than honesty to me... I may banter those situations or make suggestions... I would try and put it more positively than just state a fault with someone...

As in... "Shall we cook together tonight?"

Or let's see how we can make this lets crisp next time etc... You get the pic!

I'll wager that no-one can say they are 100% honest or are equally honest in their relationships.

I agree.... Few I know are even honest with themselves never mind others!

But there's honesty, being economical with the truth and being deceitful or dis ambiguous ( if that is the correct use of the word)

LONDON (se)

I am always as honest as I can be. If I'm asked for an honest answer I won't sugar coat things. I don't lie to anyone in my life as I don't see the point

Definitely honest!!! What's the point in lying?

However not in the way your examples are!

'Yes your bum looks big in that'

Rather

'You would look waay fitter in that outfit'

'You're an awful cook'

Rather

'I see this on Jamie Oliver's new program yesterday if I cook it will you give me a hand?' (ie: let's learn how to cook together)

You can be totally honest without being rude and belittling people. I think that some people that claim to be totally honest are mistaking rudeness for honesty.

Oh and, No!!! Without honesty trust doesn't exsist in reality because it at some point will be based on lies which is not trust.

Any act that threatens trust is unacceptable dishonesty. We all know the boundaries with regard honesty within our relationships.

'Your bum looks great in that' isn't the kind of line that would normally threaten trust, although I concede it could for some.

"There is a difference between honesty and being mean."
honesty is now confused with crass insensitivity and rudeness . It's like honestly cutting someone's head off. The end result is the same. Please learn how to work out when what you say helps . . And when it's just about you

Away with the fairies (Liverpool to you)

We are honest with each other but as we also love each other we wouldn't be saying hurtful things.

I agree with other posts suggesting kindly ways of saying about cooking or big bums etc

I think in a successful relationship or in any interaction you need to have a basic level of respect and in everyday life kindness costs nothing and is always appreciated

Yes, total honesty in relationships is important to me, but that never means tactless!!

A commitment to honesty will also make you face up to all kinds of difficult situations that could just be avoided by lies. It takes way more courage to be honest.

We are as honest as we can be as without being able to be totally honest just means you can't trust your partner with the truth.

So in short without honesty there is a trust issue.

Mo can be brutally honest at times and expects the same back from me without any sugar coating.

"There is a difference between honesty and being mean."

exactly.. I am an honest person and all my friends know this and like me because of it.. If her ass does look big in that i will tell her; but nicely... I have a habit of saying things as they are and sometimes i may offend but i am as diplomatic as i can be... I wouldn't expect any less in a relationship.. If my food tastes like crap tell me or i will be serving you the same shit over and over again!!

I agree, the workd is like a mirror, when what you say helps then its reflected back to you. Honesty is of course core, but it can be used to help rather than as an ego trip. Stop thinking about your inner self and think about their inner self and communicate with honesty.
