It's a forum with hundreds or thousands of people posting so there will be lots of posts that are the same. I don't get why people then have to wright a post saying not this again if they have already seen a post that was the same why don't they just pass it by or start a post that is different.

I have to agree with you, although I may have been guilty of the "oh no, not again" posting I will admit.

There are people who have been on the forums for years and there are also always new people. I think we all the right to post about any subject (within reason) of course without being moaned at that its been done countless times before.

Sometimes a forum search is useful though to see if a topic has come up and whether a thread is already in existence.

I agree with you OP.

If I think 'oh no not again' I will either not comment or point them in the direction of where they can find the threads with the answer.

I just used the Search Forum Subjects, this is an original thread! Nice work, OP.

Just as an example, I know I shouldn't but I often laugh when I see three or four RIP threads for the same person on the front page of the Lounge

I see the OP's point. It can seem unsympathetic to post a reply pointing out that there are a thousand other threads on the topic. On the other hand, it can be irritating when someone seeks information on something that has been debated endlessly. The forum search facility is there for a reason.

Yea but someone else's question isn't yours. And the hole point of the forum is to chat and get to know people and your not going to do that by reading someone else's post

Like I said if I just read other peoples post I wouldn't be chatting with any one

Good point.. Although many a good discussion has come on the back of resurrecting an old thread.

Part that gets me - Some people are new and don't know its a regular topic, or don't know to search for it, then get there heads ripped off. xD

It's rather odd :P

Getting their head ripped off is definitely an excessive response to a regular topic being posted

I dont agree with the OP. I might not post what I think but I often think 'Ohh ffs, this again'.

For eg, I usually post in a 'Best chat up line thread' when one occurs and I usualy start it with 'I'll say my usual.......'.

It used to really bug me but my old online home was very strict about repeat posts.

Talking of which, admin had a busy time during the World Cup, closing repeat threads, well respected members who post on the forum blatatly ignored requests not to start new threads on the subject. Then when they were encouraged to add their comment to the existing they just ignored it, kind of like throwing toys around.

I've been guilty of throwing my toys out on here unfortunately which I will freely admit. But I do get annoyed when people suggest that a certain thread or post shouldn't have been posted in their opinion.

I've been guilty of posting two threads that in hindsight shouldn't have been posted

On a positive note they were both original threads

That me all over, people who tell us a little snippet from their day, we cant really add to the subject, you often have to derail it to add.

This dosent mean Im right, in fact I know Im wrong. You cant have it both ways, todays thread about paying for a ladies shopping is superb. Telling us you stood on a snail isnt, adding 'Has this ever happened to anyone else', dosent do it for me.

Haha, I know Im wrong and will slap my own arse
