Stockings and nylon differences

I love stockings and nylons and my favourite at the moment are my nude with black seams and black reinforced foot ones.

How can you tell nylons from stockings on others though? You dont allways see the wrinkles that nylons get and some stockings are made to imitate nylons.

Are all seemed nylons fully fashioned?

I have been trying to spot fellow nylon wearers and it is more difficult to tell than I anticipated.

Nylons are just made of nylon with no added fibres to give stretch. If they fit properly they you shouldn't get wrinkles. But getting ones to fit every leg shape is tricky which is why some wrinkle.

nylons was given there name from two countries, new york hence NY and london hence LON, both made from same stockings name was hose only covered foot to lower leg

I find I do get wrinkles even though they are the right fitting when my ankles or knees are bent.

They are only little wrinkles but I don't get those with the modern Lycra hosiery.

I feel so sexy in my nylons though.

Pure nylons I find have a greasy feel to the touch, which feels quite unique and divine.

They don't fit as snugly as others with added lycra, so even if fully fashioned there will be tell-tale signs around the knees and ankles when sitting.

With less stretch too then the suspender straps endure more of a pulling which may be evident through their clothes.

But to not get confused by Nora Batty's, hers were matt whereas nylons I've found are always glossy

In 1940, John W. Eckelberry of DuPont stated that the letters "nyl" were arbitrary and the "on" was copied from the suffixes of other fibers such as cotton and rayon. A later publication by DuPont (Context, vol. 7, no. 2, 1978) explained that the name was originally intended to be "No-Run" ("run" meaning "unravel"), but was modified to avoid making such an unjustified claim. Since the products was not really run-proof, the vowels were swapped to produce "nuron", which was changed to "nilon" "to make it sound less like a nerve tonic". For clarity in pronunciation, the "i" was changed to "y".

Alternative but apocryphal explanations for the naming are:

- it is a combination of the names of the two cities New York and London, NY-Lon;

Ive been involved with the nylon stocking movement for years and its just hear say regarding NYLON= New York & London
