Biodegradable litter?

Beeston

So the young lady got in my car as we'd arranged.

The first thing she did was wind down the window and throw out a tissue she'd been using for her makeup. I said that she shouldn't litter the streets. She replied it's ok, it's bio-degradable.

When did litter become bio-degradable?

Scruffy cow! It might biodegrade eventually but not before someone's had to come around and pick it up so the streets aren't full of rubbish.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Did you make her get out and pick it up?

It might degrade eventually but it's not instantaneous.

I hate people throwing litter from cars, even more than it being dropped in the streets. At least the litter louts dropping things in the street can be called back to pick up their rubbish.

Biodegradable or not, it's a bad habit to get into and a poor example to any kids who might be watching.

Armthorpe, Doncaster

There are vids on youtube of a Russian woman who cruises the streets looking for car owners dumping rubbish on the street. She picks it up, speeds after them on her motorbike, taps on their window at some lights, and chucks the rubbish at them before speeding off Very funny stuff.

I like tossing full condoms out of my Porsche at high speeds on the motorway

A load of rot: how long your litter takes to biodegrade

Paper bag - 1 month

Apple core - 8 weeks

Orange peel and banana skins - 2 years

Cigarette end - 18 months to 500 years

Plastic bag - 10 to 20 years

A plastic bottle - 450 years

Chewing gum - 1 million years
