Bought our daughter a pair of these today and got very emotional in the shop.Brought back the day when my Mum took me for my ever 1st pair,,felt silly the girl in the shop and my daughter asking me if I was ok .

Me and my daughter share our collection if about 20 pairs! Well I let her break them in lol then I take em back and give her a new pair! Recently took my daughter for her lip and medusa piercing n I shed a lil tear! X

My mum is too girly for Docs although I've been wearing them for 20+ years.We had a nice moment last week though; texted each other simultaneously because Toots & the Maytals version of Monkey Man came on the radio - I was washing up at the time and when I was a kid my mum would wash and I'd dry with her old ska records playing in the background.

They're expensive now aren't they.

We used to have to travel to camden to get ours, it's all I used to wear.

My daughter has a couple of pairs, she's a vegan and their range of vegan shoes/boots is ok.

I have never owned any Dr Martens because they were too boyish for me.

But they do all sorts now and I've seen some Mary Jane Dr Martens shoes with spots on that look really cute. Im thinking of buying them for cycling

This made me smile my daughter is nearly 18 and i love my ska and reggae and if I'm in the kitchen cooking I will always have my music full blast, and she will always come down and say lets skank mumma and we have a lil dance!

I was the first of my mates to have 10 hole DMs. That was when 10 holes were the ultimate

I have a pair of green pigskin ones at the moment that I have had about 15 years. I had a pair of brogues too

I only had the very small DMs, were they called "monkey boots"?. I used to love seeing skinheads in oxblood 13 holers, white stay press, a Fred Perry and black Harrington.

Going to have to listen to some ska now!!!

wouldn't pay shop prices now though, much as I still love 'em.

I wanted a pair of DM's for my 13th birthday, but my parents said I couldn't have them, because they were for boys.

On the day I woke up to find a pair, but they were black, and I wanted the ones with Smarties on them.

I was disappointed for all of about 5 minutes, until it sunk it that I actually had a pair of DM's!!!

Got a pair of 10 hole cherry red boots and a pair of oxblood mohair brothel creepers. They were the first DM shoes I've ever brought but I've always owned at least one pair of boots (black or oxblood) since my teens

The English made ones are worth a lot more than the new ones made in Vietnam

Even bAck in the day, my mates 10 hole ox blood DM's were totally different to mine. His leather was softer and the soles looked "different" somehow.

Anyone remember major Domo's? A Dr Martens copy

Had a fuchsia pink pair for a while, loved them!

Buffalos were the trend during my teens though, a friend found hers the other week and posted a pic on bookface, the nineties and my mid-teens came flooding back!

Often feel a little jealous of people who have nice childhood memories. Cant say my childhood was like that. Neither was Emilys so its a pain we share and have made sure our kids will never feel
