I worry about the crazy ISIS 4kers when they return and start causing trouble. 5th column paranoia, but watch them cry 'Human Rights'. We should find them and kick their doors in at 4 in the morning, interrogate them, send them on a plane, maybe get the Saudis to do more of the fighting...

Sad news imo as each time we enter or start these wars it just makes our country and people more vulnerable to terrorist attacks. This has been billed as a war to continue for years and should not have been done unless certain things are clearer or different.

Firstly the long term plan needs to be crystal clear, as well as cost to us. What the projected terrorist threat to us will be because of it. It is absolutely only right to vote on something when all available facts are made available.

Doing this on a rushed open day at parliament has an obvious pressure to close the case when the voters are given insufficient information to make informed decisions, rather than knee jerk voting to appease the flailing inadequate prime minister.

Expect terror alerts and casualties because of this. We will spend millions that we cannot afford either. The only winners are arms suppliers.

Will you be happy if people you know are injured or killed as a result! If not, then don't be swayed by career politicians who have protection and won't have their kids in the frontline of the forces. I'm really sad.

I would prefer the approach of cordoning off the country/ies, cutting all contack, closing all borders, and let them get the fuck on with blowing shit out of eachother and sort themselves out. Make them a world 'no go zone' . (well, for the west, anyway.)

Sounds harsh to say, but any aid workers who have gone or will go to those countries will know and should accept the risks. so we should ban anyone travelling to and from there.

Before anyone picks holes in this hypothetical scenario, my other choice would have been to nuke the whole fucking lot and let them start again. (but i much prefer the former idea.)

I'm fucking fed up of our men and money being wasted on those extremists.

There has been a plan in place for the last ten years or so - to 'liberate' 5 states in the Middle East.

Big question is when they go for Iran, cos that's when it could go nuclear.

IFocus on the big picture + ask yourselves why we are getting involved in a far away country about which we know very little

at this stage what we are talking about is 6 uk tornado aircrafts helping hit specific targets in iraq at the request of the legitimate iraqi government...

the dutch today said they were sending 6 f-16's.... the danes said today they were sending 7 f-16's....

after hearing of the terrible crimes being commited by IS, I have no issue with this limited action (people might want to read up on the story of the iraqi woman human rights laywer who was publicly executed by IS in the last few days.....)

beheadings, gouging out of eyes, crucifictions....

Of course the bombs that will be dropped in our name will be able to differentiate between innocents within the targeted areas and extremists. Our press and media will highlight the slaughter of the innocents.

The aid workers held captive will be brutally murdered and our politicians will say they had a mandate for taking such action.

Saudi's have an air force that is ten fold what we have and Turkey also has massive resources..

just get the feeling that this will spread, we may destroy them in time but the knock on effect will be on our streets and in our shopping centres I fear..

I had really hoped that our MPs would have had a better take on this. We all feel the need for retaliaton but has recent history not taught us anything?

Because a quick look at any bloody history book would show that using heavy duty arms against terrorists will hurt civilian life more than the terrorist. This then acts as a recruitment sergeant for the very force being fought. Look at Ireland, Israel etc

Big difference in The Middle East is the religious dimension - we can never sort it - only the Saudis, Turks, Iranians etc. can. Even if they wont, they have to be *seen* to be calling the shots.

We will always be seen as Crusaders.

Perhaps war is a fact of life. I blame God for offering Jerusalem *exclusively* to 3 different religions...

To those against getting involved what planetdo they live on fact is this latest grouo to tertorise the wotld are well organised and if folk think for one second that taking no action will achieve anything are dekuding themselves.

There is no option than to become involved using all means at our disoosal.

My only concern is that due to cuts in arned forces over last few years that we do not have the personnel or equipment to cope with a prolonged war which this will be in most folks _iews.

The Saudi Air Force HAVE been involved. Also Bahrain and Kuwait. These are Sunni dominated countries bombing targets of a Sunni terrorist group...for once (I think the first time) the West have actually tried to do things in the right order.

As to what effect it will actually have? Most military "experts" agree that ground forces will be needed....these too need to be Arab/local forces or again it will just be seen as crusader infidels...

UK should clearly state any aid workers going there do so under caution of death - make them sign papers that they and their immediate families also agree to and understand.

Block any direct connections with those countries, and block any immigrants coming in from those countries.

Pretty much this. There's a great newspaper clip doing the rounds on Twitter and probably FB (don't do Fb), called 'Clear as Mud' which describes this situation perfectly. We should not be going to war again. It's not been thought through, no end game in place; instead just a an acknowledgement that it will take 'years' - at what cost financially and physically. There is an election coming up though and wars are good for elections. We have previous in the region and it's not good. If Tony Blair says it's a good idea there's a message there...

Cameron was itching weeks ago as soon as the US went in but he couldn't go in as it would have tipped the referendum to a very definite Yes. I'm surprised he's waited a full week since that passed to be honest.

We will be in Syria next and there will be people on the ground (to join the ones already there that they claim aren't there).

Both Daisy and I have close family who are either active or retired from the military and like most here we hope everyone stays safe. They do know what they're signing up for and it is their job - however it doesn't make it right when 'our' Government arm all these people in the first palace and then we have to go in and stop them again when it goes wrong.
