Yeah you should do a pre lightener first really! Theres a new product called 'bleach' (yes thats the brand name) in boots that has a kit to help! The dye will be a lot brighten then! Just make sure you condition the hair really well after pre lightening x

I would recommend going to the hairdressers, bleaching it bloody ruins your hair. If you can be patient, try lightening it gradually first x

My son is a brunette and he recently dyed his hair blue using a semi-permanent by Manic Panic as I wouldn't let him bleach his hair or use anything permanent on it, seems to have worked very well for him. xx

Look up bleach bath

I've recently had my hair purple and my daughters hot pink.....my hair lifted quickly with bleach but my daughters is chestnut brown (and now ruined btw)....I had to bleach it gradually.....also if you mix a bottle of dye into your shampoo and conditioner, you'll be putting colour back in when you wash it...helps to keep fading to a minimum.....

It's a total ballache, costs a bomb but if you have time and money id go for it's....I bloody loved my purple hair

If the brown is dye and your natural shade is fair then use something called Colour B4 to take the dye out.

It's surprisingly gentle on your hair and doesn't involve bleach.

Go to the hairdressers and get it done..

Bleaching hair can ruin it if your not sure how or what to do .. Be prepared for the pink to fade quickly tho xxx

I have natural brown hair (if I can remember lol) I was pink a year ago. To go pink u must go blonde first. But it will ruin your hair I its not done properly. Mine is wrecked

After dying your hair though, how do you stop it 'running'. For the first few times after washing it please?

If it's dyed already then use a removal product to get better results. I'm not a fan of bleaching but would go professional for that and then use a packet dye to keep costs lower. Or get a wig in the desired colour for much less.

U wont find a permanent pink that's very good for your hair. So its weekly top ups I'm afraid

I used to dye my hair all sorts of weird and wonderful colours, pink being the most recent (pic on profile), my hair is long and dark normally (dyed darker than it is naturally) I bleach mine all over first, starting at the ends and working my way to the roots last so it's even (roots take less time as the heat from your head will speed up the development time, never apply from the roots!) Then wash, then put the colour on after, if your hair is longer than 8inches I'd use two boxes for a vivid colour. Buy an extra colour and add a blob to your conditioner once a week, will keep your hair soft and the colour vivid!

Wish my job allowed my crazy hair colours

Massage crushed banana and honey into your hair (especially near the roots) once a week! Helps to lock the moisture and colour in!
