Well at least you are honest though a lot of guys make out that they are doing a woman a favour taking her and that doesn't wash. You need to be honest explain why you really don't want to go alone. Then see if you can find a friend who you can chat and converse with but without a wedding ring who is looking for similar in a guy. That way you may appeal more than 90% of guys who want the same but come across as boring or trying too hard.

Try a social, lots of guys in the same boat as you go, and make contacts and friends, there is one in West Brom on Friday night, get ya name down xx

Its pretty common in any situation going into a strange place if you don't know anyone there. Like Cinders says though be honest with people and don't even joke about you doing them a favor as it grates on many. In time in the scene you find friends and it does become far easier to venture to new venues. Good luck fella I hope you find someone.
