Looking to see who enjoys the company of men who have been in the army or who plan on going in the army, I myself am currently doing a sports science degree and then hopefully progressing onto fitness instructing in the R.A.F or marines etc. Give opinions

You will find a lot of people get the confidence and the mind set that is taught to forces men (not sure about the women!) is confused with arrogance. I personally like the uniformed man but it is mainly as I like the air of confidence that comes with wearing a uniform. Hope that makes sense!

We've met a couple of soldiers. The fact they are soldiers had no influence on us meeting them and had they tried to use the fact they were in the forces as a selling point we'd never have met them.

No no no I have to disagree....standard Royal Navy sailors are best, marines have bodies to die for, are super fit.....but matlots have much better personality in my experience.

OP personally I love forces guys and it's nothing to do with uniforms. It's the confidence & attitude that have.

Sure, many women will enjoy the company of 'an officer and a gentleman', my ex was an officer in the Royal Marines. He was crap at marriage, but awesome in a crisis - give him a train wreck and watch the leadership training emerge.

Go for it,I think it teaches men a lot, not least how to iron their own bloody shirts!!

I think the point 2wheels is trying to make is that it's rare you see anyone saying 'I'm a taxi driver/butcher/cashier/porter/insert other occupation here'. Of course not all forces men and women declare their occupation on here as they're not all fab members and many follow the advice regarding discretion to protect their identity.

I can't think of any other professions/occupations people use as a way of 'selling' themselves on fab (I'm sure someone will kindly mention others to help me out)

Good luck with your career choice mate!

You will learn to accept banter as a way of life if you do go into the forces. And there will be people who will knock you, hate you and love you for the job.

And yes, some women love the confidence of a man in uniform, but remember, your most desired asset should be you, not the rig you arrive in!

I live with someone who was in the RAF so I am biased, although sadly I didn't know him at the time so didn't get the benefit of him coming home every night in his uniform

Having said that, a persons job title wouldn't make me want to play with them, but if a nice looking man with a great personality and wearing combats turned up in our mailbox I might be tempted

I had no idea they were soldiers until I had met them and it certainly wasn't their uniform that got me wanting more than just a friendly chat at the bar. I found out about their occupations a while into our friendship.

You'll get people who are stuck up their own backsides in all occupations but you'll also get really lovely people too. It's not the uniform that makes the man, the man that makes the uniform.

I have. I find they have interesting and sometimes saddening stories to tell. They travel the world, see and do interesting and sometimes dangerous things. Much more interesting than an office based man who only talks about his car/sports team/how big his cock is and whinging about his boring job in the city. I'm not suggesting all forces men are interesting or all office workers boring

I've met army guys before, and a policeman but their profession means nothing to me at a meet and I didn't meet them because of what they do for a living, I met them because I liked them and we got on well. I wear a uniform but have never used it to get a meet, it probably wouldn't make a difference anyway.

OP if you're serious your best bet is to contact the forces now.

There are sponsorships and bursaries available and if you wait til you've finished your studies you'll have to sign up as a regular and then look to progress to a specialist area later. Which means you may not end up doing what you want for a long while, or in fact ever!

Won't comment much on the career choice/swinging debate as it's been done to death. Some are attracted to certain professions others couldn't give a shit what you do for a living.

OP - sounds like a good degree to get and hopefully you will land your dream job when you graduate.

In the past, I've had a relationship with a fireman. Nothing to do with his uniform though (ok it was a bonus on occasion) but because of the person he was.

I can't think of any other professions/occupations people use as a way of 'selling' themselves on fab (I'm sure someone will kindly mention others to help me out)

crystal"

fair point, the extent that 'some' in those professions use it as their main point of attraction is possibly relative to some women for whom those uniforms are attractive and say so on here..

have said before on here to blokes that if its your only selling point it will only last so long and I find it lacking in respect for the actual job and uniform personally..

in relation to using what you have its no different perhaps in the mind of the person to women wearing lingerie..

"My brother in law went to university and the course he did was funded by the army...he left uni and went to Sandhurst and became an officer...like obi said it might be worth looking into it "

This if you are in your first or start of the second Uni year. Most Unis have an OTC, Air Sqn or the RN equivalent. You can get experience of soldiering and coaching to help you decide if you want to head that way. You get the bursary and may even get paid for your time.

What ever happens if you graduate or have A levels then you can go officer. RM officer selection is very hard and I guess the other forces have a long waiting list anyway. As such you may not have much use of your fitness education as your now a manager of men. Being a normal soldier is more of a rugby club type atmosphere if that's what you want?

Joining the RM as a recruit you would be required to do 12-24 months as a rifleman before you specialise or have a specialisation they are short on forced upon you. To become a PTI you have to be promoted to corporal which itself can be difficult and takes years. There is now a Marine level PT3 course which allows you to take troop phys which is inline with what adqual the army have done for years.

Being physically fit is just the start. How do you cope under sleep depravation, hungry, cold, wet, sore and with a load of kit on your back?

people use being a professional as a way of attracting women. In message men say I work in the city,I'm a banker,I'm a truck driver. It's the uniform part that is the attraction to forces, police and fire brigade. No different to schoolgirl attire, nurses uniforms, slutty lingerie. All of which are on hundreds of people's profiles purely to attract men. I've seen women declaring they work in an office and have pics of the secretary look. Why people get so worked up about using your occupation and uniform to get sex I don't know

I'm pretty certain telling girls you want to be a P.T in the Army isnt going to get you anywhere with sex. PT's add a dime a dozen on here and Dating websites.

A few of my ex's serve in the forces and my best friend is also ex Navy. It's the personality that does it for me. I like confidence and calm no matter what. All 6"3 and man hulks too!

To be honest there will be some that are turned on by uniforms and some who really don't care.

Mostly though attitude and personality can make or break getting a meet.

Not dissing anyone who is or has served in any of the services, you do a great job.

Just don't let it be all your about.
