"I'd be happy paying a bit extra to ensure the producers get a square deal. Tesco (and others) are well known for buying milk from dairy farmers at less than production cost. Private Eye has reported on it passim " Agreed with you there

"Don't think it's a rip off as such just some false accountancy to make it seem as though they were doing better than they were. I may be wrong though. Lots of innocent people have lost a lot of money (share value) because some people got greedy. I'd boycott them but I fail at boycotting. I boycotted Starbucks and went to Costa only to find out they were doing the same thing. Went back to Starbucks.... Those Fraps though..." dont buy your goods there just buy your fuel ( and take the clubcard points ) they would in effect make a loss on the fuel they sell you as its sold as a loss leader to get you into the store to but there goods .

It is a long time since the supermarkets have used fuel as a loss leader.

"Another corporation ripping people off. Insider or not, are they not milking enough people? " What? Never! Are you telling us that another company that has a board made up of bankers has been cooking the books... I cant believe it, bankers are such altruistic and trustworthy people.

"Apart from the local market stalls which are the best value for fruit and veg, tesco comes close to matching that price so I'm happy with them. Plus they're generous with the vouchers so I can't complain too much. " Since I changed to Aldi, I've saved an average of £30-40 a week. That's a hell of a lot over a year.

"I won't shop in Tesco if I can avoid it - they have destroyed local shopping in my area by opening 3 huge supermarkets and several Tesco Expresses. And I won't shop in Asda as they are owned by WalMart who have the most appalling work practices and treat their employees very badly." totally with you on Asda for the same reason, shocking company..

" On a family trip in Dorset we shopped at the local Aldi supermarket and was pleasantly surprised with the low cost of everyday items. The local Aldi where I love is closer to be than the tesco superstore but I always skip past it. Might rethink my shopping habits sooner or later if they do good deals on healthy food.

" The news article i read stated that it was Tesco's own *projection* of expected half year profits that they "overstated" to the tune of 25%. Some £1.25bn rather than a £bn so that the share price was higher than it should have been. Auditors probably wouldn't be involved in internal projections, their role is to *verify" the accuracy/compliance* of published actual accounts in arrears. Would be interesting if criminal charges were brought against those Directors responsible." They have to get to the bottom of it but if there is enough evidence to point the finger I would think proceedings will follow.
