Fake goods

Clear as day a 'friend' selling replica products.

He is advertising them as 'replica' goods so i was just told by the police they arent interested as its not deceiving anyone.

surely its still fraud? Ripping of the companies who make them

Do they have the company name / logo on? In that case I'd think they were in breach of copyright?

If it just 'looks' like a designer item with no suggestion that it has the company logo on then I guess there's nothing that can be done?

People have been selling snide goods for years...that what happens when people want designer products but can't afford the designer price tags...I've got a snide Louis Vitton handbag from Italy and its a bloody good snide it looks like the real thing...maybe you should of raised your concerns with your friend before going to the police...

Usually the logos won't be exactly the same as often the designers use special methods for the logo...for example the famous Ralph Lauren logo you can usually tell if it's a snide with the legs of the horse

Just said i spoke to the police officer (general convo in the street..)

If they are on a personal facebook page uploading pictures of these goods, advertising them for sale as 'REPLICA' goods then i think thats pretty conclusive

Fake goods, fags, films etc are more often than not linked to organised crime which includes drugs, sex trafficking etc. I wouldn't want to help fund any of those.

However, legally if they're being sold as 'replica' and show at least 8 even really minor differences to the original they are not breaking eu or British law. This allows 'designer' goods to be replicated in the legit high street market. To do with monopoly laws. V complex area

It's OK so long as it's not replica primarni

I make replica furniture copying designs from Chippendale to Shaker even sometimes take a tape measure to the real one and make the copy (or replacement part for repair) from the same timber to the same dimensions. As long as I don't sell it as genuine antique then it is perfectly legal.

and even then it's a Civil rather than a Criminal matter which is why the Police wouldn't (necessarily) be interested.

I don't have a problem with counterfeit goods as long as the quality is ok and they aren't sold as the real McCoy. I have a quite a few fake watches from around the world that I use as work watches and they are as good as any watch bought off the high street for under £100
