Now I know this is controversial. . But I noticed the latest Rio ferdinand said this week in his auto biography that (quite rightly) he hates the n word and finds it sickening etc... yet the same autobiography when asked what songs they played in the dressing room one was called.. n***** in Paris. .. is it double standards or is it using the race card when suited or is a song bot offensive but using it in the wrong context is???

In our age of political correctedness, irony can often be overlooked.

...Up on the Downs

I think it's just a question of intent, my black friends can use the word, but I would not dream of it, same as I can say I'm a silly cow but you might get a slap for doing so!

totally. . Like the greeks. . They use malaka as a term of affection or insult . Black people have earned the right to steal back an offensive title and use it with irony .

Words don't bother me, so there's no way that I could be verbally abused.

If you were to witness me being verbally abused you might be upset by it, so in reality which one of us would be the victim?

My personal opinion is that it's used when suits.

"What race card is he using ?"

The one whereby he contradicts himself .. so ok if someone says it.. but not others...to be fair with the politically correct bull this country now has... every minority uses it when it suits them.

Black&White Utopia

Its one of lifes mysteries! Just like any of us can slag off our own brother , sister etc but any one eles do it? No fooking way! Lol

Similar with the "N" word ... I have spent many a time in the company of Black people... Who do at times use the "N" word with each other.. Would I ever use it? No way at all ... Is a deff no no (and a word I dont use anyway) Call me old fashioned ( and its naff all to do with being politically correct) .. Its respect and manners! Just the same as I wouldn't disrespect others family members etc etc. simple really!

I hate the word in all it's forms and fashions. You can't reclaim anything by using this word

not even in music. Too many people have suffered and died more than any holocaust with this word used to justify it. No it has no place in society.

Brighton - even Hove!

Although it's basis is in Latin, for example, in Trier in Germany there's a roman archway or gate called the 'Porta Nigra' meaning 'black gate', I find its' current derivative insulting and wrong.

As long as it's used musically I think it's cool, ive grown up on hip-hop and feel comfortable using it as long as it's in the song im listening to. Dont have a problem with black/mixed race guys calling it each other either.
