Its my mums 73rd birthdayin two weeks, and wanting to buy her a really good coffee machine. You know the ones that do lattes and cappuccinos. So many to chose from. Any reccomendations will be greatful please. She loves a good frothy coffee but because she always ill its hard to get her out for a coffee. So i thought i could buy her a decent machine to use at home. Many thanks in advance

The Tassimo is good but the refills can be pricey

little house on the praire

Have a look at some well known makes and then read the feedback on them. I always find reading the feedback helpful as sometimes they mention stuff you wouldn't have thought of

For lattes and things like that tassimo is quite good and very easy to use. Can usually get the refills cheaper on amazon too.

Thanku for that i will go online and have a look. Mum misses going out for her weekly coffee. But not took her lately as she has been so ill or in hospital. So rather than flower etc thought this would be good idea

Are you looking for a machine that takes pods (like a Tassimo) or an Espresso machine (that takes grounds)?

i was bought a tassimo as a gift a few years back - recently threw away a couple of samples that came with it - the cost of the refills put me off plus i like my coffee really hot and find these machines dont hit the mark

we have a dolche gusto, really good, as others say pods are expensive but we found them on amazon in boxes of 50 reasonably priced

I have a Dolce Gusto, there is a fair amount of choice in the pods, which are about £3.80 a box. That is still cheaper than the coffee you buy at Costa!

There are also bean to cup machines, the DeLongi ones seem to get the best reviews for reliability but they are very expensive starting at about £300.

Good luck x

MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire)

Dolce Gusto here too. And I love it. I'm on my second one.

I've the mini me now as theres only me in the house, and my 5 year old - and he;s nuts enough without adding caffeine! (mind you, he probably says same about me)

The pods are under £4 for a box (usually 8 drinks in a box) and I find this newer one does make them much hotter than previous dolce gusto did.
