The missing schoolgirl.

The chief suspect is a Latvian. He is a convicted murderer and suspected of indecent assaults against young girls in his home land.

I know our immigration service is totally unfit for purpose...but WTF why was he allowed in the country?

He was actually suspected of indecent assault on a 14 year old girl in this country a few years ago.

Poor bloody kid. Her parents must be terrified.

What I don't understand though (any solicitors please answer) is how come they released the info about the indecent allegation if he was not convicted?

They are still looking for him so I guess releasing such derogatory information will make anyone harbouring him think twice.

But could that info help his case if guilty?

Latvia has been in the European Union for a long while. Welcome to the 21st century.

I hope it had a good outcome but it doesn't look likely. So far there is nothing to say the cases are related.

Although neither have used their phones and he hasn't accessed his bank account since they disappeared.

It does seem odd though that if they are connected he waited a week to disappear in exactly the same place.

Could someone be targeting people in the same area?

I don't think it will have a good outcome. Sound's awful but if she has been murdered, I hope it was quick for her sake.

i'm surprised this was released, i thought that kind of information was kept confidential due to the potential for mis-trials

Just read that he was convicted of murdering his wife in 1998 in Latvia. Did seven years for it. How was he allowed into Britain???

Because we cannot control our borders effectively, which seems mad for an island.

Also, our immigration policy is too loose.

Finally, Tony Liar and his band of cretinous fellow MPs opened the floodgates, as part of a social experiment, to allow all sorts of people in to the UK

I live in Hanwell where she disappeared from, I think about my young daughter everyday and the world I have brought her into, seeing this so close to home terrifies me.

The Latvian authorities said they were not at liberty to inform the UK of his past

irresponsible reporting by the media, they really should have learnt by now that there is a risk of such information affecting any forthcoming trial.

They have spoken to his family and they have said they have had no contact for a week or so and think he has committed

suicide.

How could you ever believe that !!

When presenting yourself at the boarder you maybe asked 'do you have a criminal record' if you freely divualge you have, you can be refused admission, otherwise you are allowed entry.

This plus been watching the series that last week centred on James Bulger and this week Sarah Payne...

It's well accepted in most developed countries that paedophiles of whatever age NEVER change. Sara Payne herself who's studied and investigated this area thoroughly said on last nights programme that the only way to stop them is to get between them and the child.

It's a soap box of mine partly due to having worked in child protection, but once convicted ... JUST DONT LET EM OUT EVER!!
