I'd bring back Michael Jackson, but many might argue that he was a singer, not a Musician.

Well, he could actually play Piano, and considering all the great songs he wrote, he must have been fairly competent.

Failing that - Marc Bolan

I am a massive music fan and a musician myself.

I do often wonder whether many of the above musicians would have had the same, sustained impact if they didn't die untimely.

But hey, I'd like John Martyn. In a guitarists league of his own, subtle and brilliant. And what a voice.

Yeah but the music that was around then was still good. They were around in the late 80s. You had bands like metallica, iron maiden, white zombie.

All of which were better than nirvana.

Most of the wild ones I wouldn't because I think the media and the public would eat them alive. Freddie Mercury I might have brought back over most, but he wouldn't be doing music today if he hadn't got AIDS. He'd have fucked it all off and maybe done the odd appearance on Jools Holland.

Personally, I'd like to bring back Pink Floyd's Richard Wright. He was not done being a musical genius!

Well it seems to me that if everyone on the forums brought one dead musician back, we could have them all alive

"got be kurt cobain know one in the past or now did it like him the face of rock come alive when he came around it woz shit big hair so called rock then

Nirvana was a grunge band.

what's grunge though? it's still rock

Yeah but the music that was around then was still good. They were around in the late 80s. You had bands like metallica, iron maiden, white zombie.

All of which were better than nirvana."

that's completely subjective...I was never into those metal bands and Nirvana were a godsend at the time! none of the bands you list were as good as black sabbath or the who or led zeppelin which was what I was into, but again that's personal taste..either way Nirvana's music is still a form of rock

Gotta say Ive never really got the appeal of nirvana. I much prefer the 80s thrash or NWOBHM bands. I've always thought Nirvana wouldn't be half as well remembered if Kurt Cobain was still alive.

Honestly KC wasnt great his voice was sub par and he songs bored me! If you like grunge then pearl jam were the band to love!

Plus his passing let dave grohl come forward and Foo Fighters were born which hands down kick nirvanas ass!!

that's something we'll never know I guess...thrash and heavy metal never really did anything for me..besides motorhead and sabbath, but again they're heavy rock to my ears...as I say it's all subjective innit

never really liked Pearl Jam either! it's impossible to agree on musical tastes..always thought the foo fighters were a bit too mainstream sounding, I like their first album and they've done some good songs but Nirvana were much more up my street...life's rich tapestry

Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley & Shannon Hoon all taken far too soon and had massive potential. RIP

yeah, well Kurt wanted a divorce and to write her out of the will a very short while before he died..who does that if they're planning to commit suicide? he was clean at the time too, yet all that heroin was found and he still managed to roll down and button up his sleeve, put away his gear, get the gun and shoot himself..doesn't add up...glad you're on the same page mate

Too tough to just pick one..

GG Allin, Sun Ra, or Frank Zappa.. or Captain Beefheart. Would love to see any of them live. Kurt Cobain or Big L, Biggie Smalls Big Pun, had so much more to give musically.. Oderus Urungus!
