I'm thinking of having a spray tan but I'm quite pale naturally so am worried I might end up looking tangoed! Any advice / tips from people who have had them would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Scunthorpe

Go to a reputable salon or beautician, ideally one recommended by someone you know and trust, and choose the lightest shade.

I am very pale and tried this a couple of years ago. Everyone said that it looked good, but I didn't look like me, so I won't have another.

My Daughter had one, she is very pal and her face looked beautiful but the rest looked horrid.

Best thing is get a real mild one and see how it goes, they dont last long anyway.

Most spray tans come in percentages, think for most 6% or 8% is the lowest, Any therapist worth their weight in gold will go through a consultation with you, ask you lifestyle questions etc! And will advise appropriately

Pale skin on a girl is so sexy, don't understand girls with tans, unless it's a holiday tan of course.

Better still buy Dove tanning moisturising lotion. Gives a natural colour tan that can be topped up regularly and looks great. Smells a little but the results are great

I'm a redhead and fair skinned. I had one earlier this year, lowest one the beautician could do. It looked OK but that's all, its just didn't look right. I get the same effect by using Garnier Summer Body moisturiser at a fraction of the cost.

Give it a go and see for yourself, but remember to exfoliate every other day in the week leading up to the appointment particularly knees and elbows.

Great, thanks for your advice everyone does anyone know how long it takes to wear off, and when is it at its best?! I've heard it can take a couple of days to 'settle down' after you've had it done..

St tropez gives the best colour in my op. Not orange at all, looks quite "muddy" when applied and gets darker as it develops. Don't play with it. Wash it offer after set time and beautiful natural tan underneath. Certain beauticians use it x

Get it done at a reputable salon, ask them for advice and even a test spot before you get it done. You only get tango'd if its overdone.

The best one I ever had was at Clarins. They exfoliated me then applied the tan by hand. No streaks or anything and it was a "sunkissed" look. I think it was about £50 then and it was about 9 years ago but it was for a special occasion and worth the money I thought.
