Got my redundancy notice yesterday, from the fairly well known phone shop, gutted only been there 18 months and was my first 'real' job.

Look on the bright side, you now have 18 months work experiance working with the public,handling money, credit cards ect, you can close a deal (dont all have to be multi million pound contracts)in various subject.

see not all bad, you seem an idea candidate for a local comapny looking for an young person who is not afraid to work.

Not great news, but as Bedbath eloquently enunciated, you can take away a lot of positives from your time there.

Good luck for the future. One tip, get a written character reference from your gaffer. I find they go a long way at inter_iews.

Sorry to hear that. If it makes you feel a little less shitty, my friend has just been outsourced by the outsourcing company he works for.

They took over Littlewoods, gave him the task of "shrinking the company down to size" and then gave his job to someone in India.

I don't think that's the case all the major providers went...it was pretty much written in stone EE would follow.....I really do wish you all the luck in finding something soon x

My bedroom 1 hour young lady, i expect the full short skirt,open buttoned blouse attire with stocking top exposer and the odd crossed legged pantie peep. Then i will judge you skills in communcation and mixing with the public

Try career builder. They give really good advice on CV building, inter_iew skills, will help you build a cover letter and also tell you about what big companied are hiring that month. Hope this helps

They will be able to assist you as a company they have to bring someone in and give you notice . The job centre will come in and chat to you and they are a help .

Good luck in your search . Hopefully Carphone Warehouse may have something for you . Phones4u were an architect of their own misfortune. A greedy private equity owner who refused to re negotiate more reasonable terms with the various network operators . John Caldwell will not be complaining . He received 1.6 billion when he sold the company .

Sucks about your redundancy, but it can't have come as a big surprise, given the recent announcement about your employer - not that I have any idea who it might be

As most have suggested, get yourself out there, maybe even call in at a few local phone shops and ask about vacancies etc.

Unless you fancy a change of direction in your career.

You have a good amount of retail experience from your last 18 months, so you're not just restricted to selling telephones.

Any electrical retailers, might be worth considering, as they will be technology related - especially as phones of late have become more complicated and akin to computers - for example, as you'll know, an ipad is pretty much a bigger version of the iphone - well you get where I'm coming from at least.

Tried to order a phone from them on-line. They lost the order and finally, three weeks later I went to an EE shop and bought the phone over the counter but they WOULDN`T allow me to keep my old number from my T Mobile phone which I lost Have since tried TWICE to top-up online and I can`t do it because their website keeps crashing.

They`re brilliant!
