Working full time was actually fewer hours than I put in most weeks at university.

I really miss it. I worked really hard but it was kind of on my own time, so if I wanted to stay in bed all day then do my work at night I could. And going out in the week was pretty good too!

True. I go to work and work between certain hours. After that my time is mine.

At uni it was 5 days if lectures, seminars and briefings then back home for exam studies and course work.

May i join the thread? I only managed a Polytechnic but they were great days.

ps when i say managed, i don't mean i was a Dean or anything, rather that i sometimes managed to get in for 11.00 lectures.

I miss the fun, the placements were great experience though. I loved it though, disposable income and 4 hours a week of lectures was a joke.

I'm at Uni now and I do all those things, plus the occasional night shift. Only difference is I'm accruing debt at the same time.

At the time I didn't realise how lucky I was to be at Uni. Now, with hindsight, I realise those 3 years were up there as the best of my life.

Such a journey if discovery in every way, socially, sexually, in general life skills. So free, and although it seemed pressurised at the time, I can now see just how easy it was compared to what follows!

If I could rewind time and re-live any 3 years then my Uni years would probably be the ones I'd choose.

I must admit I do always feel a tinge of jealousy when I see kids (sorry, young adults!) heading off for Uni for the first time with the whole experience still ahead of them!

Im still a student, atm in Sydney but returning to Brum for the uk semester this week. Its hard work especially if you work as well and student debts are a major worry for many. I do like a lot of the young talent around me.

Titz Towers, North Notts

I had a great time as a mature student. I was still young enough to enjoy the night life and old enough to point out to a girl in fresher's week who was boasting of having been up till 4AM that I'd not long since come of nights.
