Sainsbury's are bringing Netto's back to the UK......

UK supermarket chain Sainsbury's is to take on discount rivals Aldi and Lidl by entering into a joint venture with Danish discount grocery chain Netto.

The joint venture will see the launch of 15 Netto stores by the end of 2015.

Both Netto and Sainsbury's will invest £12.5m in the venture. The first store will open in the north of England later this year.

Netto was huge in my neighbourhood lol they had the best sausages and black pud for a start. Deep fill BLTs for a quid as well.

When the ASDA rolled in, they got more shoppers, but everyone still thinks it's shit. I don't shop there now.

I dont know if it's still there but there's one in Bootle Strand that never went away. It just advertises burgers for about £5 and its customer base is purely pensioners stopping in to cach their breath and have a cup of tea.

To be honest, I'm not even sure they actually store burgers or if it's just a front for something else. I might go in and ask and see if they shit one and run out the back!

OK, lets sort this Asda/Netto thing out....

Asda bought Netto UK in 2010 for £778m. Netto had 193 shops, but the Office of Fair Trading got involved and told them to get rid of 47.

20 became Ugo, which later went into administration. Poundstretcher bought 18 of those stores

Morrisons got 18 of them

Iceland and Co-op got 3 each.

And 3 just closed.
