Just wondering how many of you when going on a road trip up/down the country factor in pit stops at the services? I know when i go to Blackpool (which is a couple of hours drive) i plan at least one stop with the girls so they can have a cigarette & coffee/pee break?

My ex husband used to hate stopping and get right stroppy, me i think it breaks up a tedious journey....

Thoughts?

When I go up north to visit the folks, I always like a pit stop half way for a break and normally a wee, as I have the bladder of a red ant lol. It gets boring otherwise

I wouldn't say I factor in rest stops...if I need a pee, I stop at the services...saying that though, I've been on a coupla trips where I've wanted a pitstop and it seems that all toilets have been magically transported off the road and I end up at my destination bursting to find a loo

I tend to not like stopping as I'm normally keen to get where I'm going and I'm normally late!!! I won't really plan for them. I'm a go with the flow kinda girl. ... If I need one I'll take one

Depends how far, normally do from chesterfield to my foilks in Eastbourne in a single stint, never plan stops just take as and when they're needed.

London to Manchester I prefer to do nonstop if I can

Longer journeys and hunger takes over so a pitstop it is

No more than 3 hours without a short break even if its just to stretch your legs. Why risk lapses of concentration and risk things to you and others by not doing so.

I can usually manage about 3 hrs between stops (drink dependant)- although the record was 5 and a bit hours when coming back from Cornwall with a faulty clutch, so once i got into 4th gear (yep, was a long time ago, when 5th gear was for posh cars) i didn't slow down or stop until i got home and stalled on the drive, jammed in gear...that was an interesting trip

We don't mind having pit stops. One on the way to Blackpool for us.

Retirement Village

I do a lot of driving in a week, about 600 miles on average, and generally i'll stop once every 2 to 3 hours if just to stretch and re-focus

We don't plan as a rule just when we all need the loo

However apart from Gloucester services they are amazing full of local produce so we do factor in stopping there

I like to steam straight through. I'll have all my snacks drinks and music to keep me occupied but other than a piss stop I don't like to hang about.

Can depend on who is in the car with me too but generally upto 2 hours in one go, over 4 hours I would factor a stop at the 1/2 way point for a coffee & wee.

Yeah that's what i call sensible. That and the fact i'm a diet controlled diabetic so like to stop & eat/drink something if i can/need too.

Edinburgh

I drive up and down to Manchester fairly regularly. I stop at the same services on each journey. I am a creature of habit.
