Cover songs that are better than the original.

I was just having a shuffle in the bath and the sings were playing in alphabetical order. I have four versions of I Heard It Through The Grapevine. In my opinion each time it got covered it got better.

The first by Smokey Robinson is good but Marvin Gaye's one is a lot better. Then Creedence Clearwater Revival made an excellent version but I think the best one is by The Slits , they did it brilliantly and it's one offy favourite songs.

Any other covers that are better than the originals ?

One of the important ones could be said to be Mr Tambourine Man by The Byrds.

Roger McGuinn tells it that George Harrison showed him how to really play a Rickenbacker.

He then jingle jangled his way through said record and Dylan went electric.

I think Dylan was quite chuffed being done by Baez.

There was the music too, some of which is rather good.

"Love Is Just A Four-Letter Word" by Baez is well listenable.

"Whiskey in the Jar - Metallica

Word Up - Korn"

Not sure if metallicas version is better than Thin Lizzy's but it's close.

Their version of Turn the page is better than Bob Segar's though.

"I was just having a shuffle in the bath and the sings were playing in alphabetical order.

Any other covers that are better than the originals ?"

i prefer smokeys version and Donny hathaways version of what's going on.

I prefer all covers of Neil Diamonds songs better than the originals and it goes without saying that every artist does Dylan songs better than the original.

I can't get get no satisfaction by the stones is good but I prefer the Otis Redding version

"UB40's Red Red Wine trumps on Niel Diamonds face IMHO"
tony tribe is the best

And Paul Youngs version of wherever I lay my hat.

I feel for you Chaka Khan better than the prince version, same with nothing compares to u, sinead O'connor

House of the rising sun, the animals is best.

Tainted love, soft cell is best.

With a little from my friends, joe cocker over the Beatles.

Because it's got guitars and base rather than synthetic pop.

Neil Diamond is a better writer than a performer so I can see where you're coming from.

Devo's version of satisfaction is better than Reddings, but still not as good as the original.
