Just thought I would ask if there was a plummer about who might be able to throw some light on a problem we are having with our drains, so that we have some idea of what it might be, before we call someone in.

Soooooo..... sometimes when we flush the loo we are getting a rotten-eggy type smell in the house. The smell is more downstairs (which is odd as the toilet is upstairs.) Particularly in the kitchen (under the bathroom)

Can anyone point us in the right direction before we ring dynorod?

Thanks.

check your trap under your kitchen sink int full of rotten food waste, the smell can easily be pushed the wrong way if full, just clean it out in another sink if its a mess??

Good luck with that. We've been trying to find a reliable plumber for weeks. Seems they have no need of work........

Northumberland

In your back garden or poss garage open up the manhole (2ft x 3ft) metal cover and check there is nothing in there ,, is the smell not there when emptying the bath ?there could be a partial blockage in manhole which when flushing will half fill it and run away slowly ..if so

Take end off a hosepipe and see if you can push it as far down the pipe as you can and slowly turn hose on till on full while ridding with it ??
