So someone has been taken to hospital turns out they had a heart attack last Wednesday and now waiting for bypass surgery..

Does anyone know how long it takes and if yiu know of someone how long was they in hospital for? Don't know yet if it's a double or triple etc

It's a how long is a piece of string question. The consultant is the only person that can answer questions like that as there are so many variables and even then it would be fairly speculative

Right ta, they did a camera up his arm yesterday and realised it was a heart attack Wednesday and now they are doing some sort of test on the lungs today then it's the bypass surgery. Just worried as he is 64 already had 2 strokes so not looking to good

As Crystal says, each one is different but there's a lot of good info on the British Heart Foundation website - even if its a bit hard to find.

I had a triple by pass just over 5 months ago, heart attack on the Sunday, angiogram Monday hoping stents would do the job but sadly no so open heart surgery on the Wednesday, left hospital 4 days later on the Sunday. No problem with the heart but the sternum and muscles were incredibly painful, 6-8 weeks of serious discomfort but now playing golf paddle boarding living a normal life every now and again get some discomfort in chest but they say it can take up to 12 months for totally recovery.

Be happy to chat if you have any questions we are all different and recovery time will vary but happy to share my experience if it helps.

My dad was admitted to hospital after suffering 3 silent heart attacks. He was in hospital for 2 weeks before he could have triple bypass surgery. Every one is different. Hope your friend recovers well x
