I just caught some of this and it got me thinking. When we talk about organ/tissue transplants it always seems to be from the donor point of view.

But would you want to receive an organ or tissue?

Would your opinion be different if it were a major, life-saving organ (like heart, lungs or kidney) or if it were a cornea or part of a knee or a bone graft?

Yeah I would! It'd be silly to refuse it if it guaranteed a greater quality of life.

Although, I did switch over and caught them harvesting some bones. Had to quickly turn back to the other channel, turned my stomach!

South East Midlands NOT

I'm on the donor register, I give blood and I hope that if I ever needed some kind of life saving operation or something to drastically improve the quality of my life that someone would help me out!

Anything is good, if it prolongs life.

Due to being a biker and having my fair share of tumble, I would not say no to an organ transplant.

I'm on the donor register, I lost my son at 20 months old and I donated his organs, but if I ever fell ill I wouldn't want anyone elses, I have my own personal reasons for this

My mum has a transplant kidney.

She was in her early 70's when she got the call and her initial reaction was give it to someone with their life ahead of them.

Sadly things aren't that simple : tissue matches are not all that easy to pair up.

She doesn't want to know who or where the kidney came from because she said she would find it difficult to balance her thoughts if it had come from a young person who had been killed.

She said she has a feeling it came from a man but doesn't know why she feels that way.

The fact that you'd still donate despite your personal beliefs makes you a pretty selfless person. Good for you!

Does she now leave the toilet seat up ? She may be getting some learned behaviour from the donor.

There are two different types of donation live and dead, I have been very grateful for the many pints of blood that has kept me alive in the past, would be grateful if a more serious donation was needed.

Sorry to read that

That was a very grand gesture you did though. Very selfless xx

I'd receive but be nervous if being sedated at a crash.

I watched this earlier I found the whole process fascinating, I as I suspect many others don't think about the logistics of harvesting organs and how they dish them out, was enlightening. And yes, I would accept an organ if I needed one and it would enhance my quality of life.
