Sometimes I just don't get people.....

Someone on this site viewed my profile. Which is fine, So I merely sent them a message saying thank you for looking, nothing more, nothing suggestive just saying thank you for looking. I thought I was being polite........Then...blocked....Some odd people around!

They might be your next door neighbour, your boss or a relative. Perhaps they just don't want to talk to you.

Maybe they looked, decided they didn't like what they saw...

I'm not sure why people get hung up on who has looked - people have to look to read it... and for many it will be one read, and enough to decide not what they are searching for.

If they block, simply means that you don't float their boat, move on to someone that does, and not bother about those that don't?

If they viewed you and didn't message then they already decided that you weren't for them. So to get a message just made the decision more certain and they blocked you.

Dont understand what your issue is they viewed your profile obviously werent attracted and did nothing more about it. You then sent a thanks for viewing my profile they probably thought its from that guy we viewed and werent interested in so to prevent further communicstion they blocked you seems ressonable to us we would do the same

With no friends or messages or meets to my name - the who's looked at me provides me with at least some excitement/hope with the odd fab'd photo as the stand out moment. So I can see why he'd look . Although I'd only message them if they repeatedly looked.

The voice of reason!....yes, I'm fairly new so not much happens, So I do tend to have a look. But no more thank you's.....lesson learned!

I used to say "no problem" in respone to those messages but it just led to them replying "I know i'm not exactly what you're looking for but...." or "if you looked you must be interested ..." so now i just block right away.

I agree that if somebody looks and rejects your profile it is reasonable for them then to block. However, if you are compelled to answer try adding more information, for example.... I have read your profile and I think we are compatible for x, y and z reasons and here's a face pic for you to make a more informed decision. Maybe some people would then take a second look and consider you.

Looking at a profile isn't something someone "goes to the trouble of doing", they're looking for what they want. They didn't message or wink so you probably weren't what they were looking for.

I view in stealth mode to avoid a lot of "hi, I saw you viewed my profile" messages from people who didn't interest me, so I'm not really surprised they didn't want a message from you and blocked you.

Messaging people who have looked and decided you aren't for them may well be unwelcome.

We often use the block as a filtering device.

If it's someone that doesn't and won't ever float our boat we would rather block than have to go through the whole rigmarole every few weeks when they forget they have already messaged you and you have replied with a no thanks.

We also use it if we realise later along the road that someone isn't for us so we don't forget and make the mistake to message

It's a tool people should stop taking so much offence from it.

If that is all what you said, fair enough, but they maybe thought you were trying to engage in conversation in which they didn't want to.

On my couple profile, we had a chap message us twice after only looking at his profile and had to block him when he became rude for us not replying and answering his question about 'what's wrong with his profile'.

J usually deals with who gets blocked but we don't tend to block without reason. Stalker types, rude people, guys that ignore the fact that we are a couple etc though I just gladly blocked some douche bag that messaged just to call me a slapper

When you have been on here sometime you might.

We have told people over and over again thanks but no thanks, they leave it a couple of months and try again.

We also have people message us one day - we delete message, they leave it a day then message again, then again

Easier to block as won't have to go through it all again

Also makes sense blocking people your not interested in as you wouldn't want them constantly looking at your profile even when you have said no thanks (happens!!) or forgetting a year down the line and going through the hassle of getting face pics again and realising why you didn't continue to message before.

We have been on fab a while (original account had to be deleted but we rejoined straight away with same username etc) so I do know exactly what you are talking about. We have had all those problems you mentioned and can certainly see how the block function comes in very handy in eliminating the profiles you will never be interested in.

We are a little harsh anyway when it comes to things like messages, we will delete messages that don't interest us, without replying and sometimes without even reading lol we also have a rule when it comes to winks n friends invites, which is basically all winks from single guys are automatically deleted. We will check out profiles of couples/women that wink at us, and wink back if we like what we see. If we don't then they are deleted too. And friends invites are only taken seriously if we have been chatting to and like, the sender.

Basically we have our own little set of fab rules we follow lol and they been working ok for us so far haha but maybe that block button should be getting more use

What would you rather have an instant block or be farted about for weeks and then get a block? For me its an easy decision.

Some people block to stop people messaging them again. I don't understand why you would want to thank somebody for looking at your profile. They probably looked at a few profiles and not just yours. I guess they will have blocked you in case your next message was something like "Now you have looked at my profile do you fancy a meet?".

This is why I view profiles in stealth mode. (after getting messages saying 'hey, i saw you looked at my profile.. what do you think? etc)

Its like going into some shops when I want to look around for myself, and one of the staff jumps up my ass asking if I need any help.. no thanks, if I want help I am quite capable of asking for it myself cheers, I'm just window shopping... now feck off and leave me alone

but what you are talking about is actually bad manners, the people in question here were simply using the site, searching, viewing profiles, they decided you werent compatible for them and didnt follow it up, you took it upon yourself to send an unsolicted mail, which would be fair enough if you just left it at that, but you take offence because they decide to use the block function so that they dont waste anymore of there or your time when there will be no meet happening.
