Just went outside as next doors House alarm started going off (they just moved in this Morning) and the Bloke says I'm sorry I dont know the code to turn it off so I said I do and told him as I used to watch the House for the previous Neighbours, he turned the alarm off and said I better get that changed then if everyone knows it and shut the door !

I'd be a tad pissed off if I had a security system and some random from my street could tell me the number.

.

I have keys and security codes for 4 houses surrounding me.

Perhaps the previous owner should have informed the new buyer that he had a trusted neighbour who kept an eye on things whilst you are out away.

Neighbours like that are these days sadly in very short supply, well done Kev for being a good and trusted person

2 of my Neighbours have a Key and Alarm code for my House just in case and it's nice to have trusting Neighbours after all it would be pretty sad if you couldn't trust them.

I popped a note through next doors this Morning reminding them of the code and instructions on how to change it, hope they settle in okay

we always make a point of having spare keys and knowing the alarm codes for our neighbours.

I mean, I am freelance, Tamz teaches, so between us we can be around in the day a lot and they just seem to love buying new telly's, jewelry, golf clubs...

That's great... but your new neighbour doesn't know you from Adam... when you popped the note throught their door did you include a spare key and the code for your house?

of course not but I would if I got to know them and trusted them, I understand they could be worried which is why I've told them how to change the code, if I were them I'd be thinking this is a decent area and theres some trust when you get to know some People.

I would hate to live somewhere where I couldn't trust my Neighbours, I think we will have to agree to disagree on this one

I agree it's nice to live in a neighbourhood where there are good neighbours, that's not the point. If I just moved in and people I don't know have keys to my house and my alarm code I'd not be happy either.

Later on when I got to know them and handed those details over myself is a different matter.

The same way you didn't hand over your house keys and alarm code because you don't know them see it from their point of view!

That's what the West's and Shipman's neighbour's said lol

I don't think we disagree on this... I am just trying to point out what you have just said yourself... it takes a bit of time to build trust and they only moved in 24hrs ago. You wouldn't dream of giving him your code the day he moved in... he didn't have a choice that you had his.

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

" You wouldn't dream of giving him your code the day he moved in... he didn't have a choice that you had his.

"

That's mainly the fault of the previous owner, andd slightly the fault of the new owner. They should have discussed it at some stage in the process.

I'd also say that the first thing I did when I moved in was change the locks anyway.

The poor sod is probably wondering how many other people knew how to get into his house, his castle, his place of safety and sanctuary.

Worse still.... if the previous owner decided last minute to swap a few of the expensive light fittings and such like for cheaper ones.... he's now wondering which neighbour is the robbing bastard! lol

No one said that.

But it is understandable that the guy may have not been best pleased to find out someone he has never met before (and god knows how many others) have the information to get into his house.

All sorted now, spoke to the Guy and he said sorry for being a bit rude, he's changed the code and he's happy now, seem's like a nice Bloke what with the stress of moving and everything it's understandable so onwards and upwards

well my weekend with the next door neighbour was very interesting, after mrs mally shouted at the (lad) they had in putting decking in cause he kept whacking our fence, it suddenly turned into a slanging match between my mrs and the alcoholic girlfriend who lives there, at this point I joined in, as you can imagine negotiating the rights and wrongs to peoples boundaries with some one who was struggling to speak properly was quite an effort, so me being the calm one out of all of us at the time, leaped over the fence, grabbed the actual owner of the property (who always chooses to hide in the house when his girlfriend is arguing), applied a kimura arm lock on him got him in the back garden and said "you get your d*unken bitch inside before I put a spade through through her head and tell that fuckwit that if he damages the fence, I'll bury him under the fucker"

was all quiet after that, well apart from her going on about my mrs calling her an alcoholic slapper for the rest of the afternoon.
