time wasting

I've been poorly for 3 days, like a flu virus. Anyway, all the over counter medicines I have taken say that if symptoms persist for more than 3 days to see your doctor. I know that if I do go to the doctor I will probably be told that its a virus and just got to ride it.

I feel I should go mainly for work reasons (although I know the dr can't give me a note).

Just feel like I'm wasting mine and the Drs time.

"Can he not give you a sick note if your not fit to work?"

Most will charge you because you can self certify for up to 7 days.

I think over the counter drugs have to say the three day thing to cover themselves, not for your benefit. I agree going to the docs is probably a waste of time unless you're feeling worse or have more severe symptoms.

My doctors surgery offer the option to see a nurse practitioner for less serious problems, might that be an option if you feel really grotty or need advice?

Sounds like an ideal case for dialling 111 get a phone consultation and they will refer you if there is something bad in your area that matches the symptoms
