nakedness around your kids

I just read an interesting article about a woman who still allows her 13 year old son to see her naked. How do people feel about this? At what age were your kids when you started to cover up and encourage them to do the same? My son turned 8 yesterday and I have no worries about him seeing me and he is still not at all shy about his nakedness!!

I didn't intentionally walk round the house naked when he got to about 13 but he'd often come barging in the bathroom or bedroom so I guess he still saw me naked until he left home

I never let it all hang out strutting around naked in front my girls but if they saw me I never made a big deal to demonstrate that being naked is nothing to be ashamed of. But when they started developing I made sure to not put myself in the position to see them or them me.

I have no problems with my kids seeing me naked and it doesn't bother them at the moment (the oldest is 10). I come from a family where nakedness wasn't hidden so I see nothing wrong with it. if my kids ever expressed an issue with it then I would cover up.

I don't have children, but I often saw my Dad naked up until the time I left home. My Dad always knew when I had something important to tell him because I'd sit on the toilet seat whilst he was in the bath and tell him. It gave him time to think before he killed me!!

My sister on the other hand is quite prudish I guess, if we share a hotel room on holiday etc she won't change in front of me, she goes to the bathroom.

When our children began to want more privacy where their own nakedness was concerned we stopped walking around naked in front of them,they see us in various states of undress though and they know if they walk into our room without knocking they may get an eyeful of naked body

I live in a all female house, i have 3 daughters aged 21, 20 and 13, we are often either in underwear or naked, noone bats an eye lid

not sure id get naked infront of a son of those ages, but not having any sons its only how i think i would be

I used to walk round the house naked till my daughter started school age 5. I only do it now when the kids aren't about and it's hot and sunny so like 3 times a year lol

I was brought up in a very conservative household where we were very private and nobody saw anyone naked. Consequently that has had a knock-on effect and I'm very uncomfortable with my naked body - my children have never seen me naked (and I mean never).

It's not really been a problem though as that's just 'how we are' - just the same as those who're comfortable with it and prance around in the nuddy in front of each other. You just do what you're happy doing.

I think your child will tell you themselves. Wee hints like the bathroom door being closed when they are in it or when they say mum close the door I don't want to see should give it away

I don't have any kids but I live with my mum. she constantly flashes her boobs and gets changed in the living room... She also has a thing about tweaking boobs... My youngest sister is 12 and has just started developing so she's proud of her boobs and doesnt mind when my mum tweaks her boobs, but my other sister and I hate it! I'd never walk around naked when my mum/sisters are in the house.

My children are only 5 and 3 but they see me naked all the time. I'm not sure what age I'll stop. I think I was about 9 when I stopped wanting my parents to see me naked.

I think it's more important what the child/ young person wants. If they want their parent(s) to cover up then the adult should respect that.

It's pretty shit to make fun of anyone that feels uncomfortable- children are people too- their feelings should be respected.

When I was a kid I saw my mum in various states of undress through the natural run of things, brushing my teeth whilst she was in the bath, or one of us coming out the bath with a towel not fully wrapped up. It was never anything intentional, as such or that big a deal. It just was.

At the mo, the Hamsters and the dog have seen me in various states of undress and various dresses and haven't developed a condition that they've had to talk to me about.

Our kids grew up as naturists, all three are in their twenties now, we still are rarely dressed at home but they are hardly going to complain as they have never known us any other way.

The older two left home and are not naturist in their own homes, the youngest doesn't give a shit and will wander around in his dressing gown or nude.

My children ( different gender )often see me naked and i don't see anything wrong with that... It is usually when they are either in the bedroom or bathroom with me... I however stopped the children bathing together quite young and have encouraged them to cover up in front of each other... My son is only 9 and he is starting to be aware of his sexuality... Im not sure at 13 i would want to be naked in front of him.. I think I've educated him enough with my body and the effects that child birth has on it... He doesn't need a constant reminder

i have 3 boys the eldest being 12. they all are used to me being naked or very little on. they dont find it strange and dont seem to be embaressed about it. i think if it appears the norm its not a problem.

Nope - I'm exactly the same. I don't like seeing my own naked body in a mirror so I wouldn't want to inflict it on someone else. I accept others don't have a problem with nakedness but it just wasn't the 'norm' in my upbringing.

I think that as in this case as long as they are brought up with the thought that the human body is natural then there is a positive benefit !

Friends I had when younger were brought up by parents who went naked around the house ! They weren't affected as much about the big sex thing when growing up it was just a natural progression?

For me it was like a massive eye opener !!

Our kids have grown up with our naturist way of life !

So nudity is no big deal to them which we feel has made them more balanced individuals with no body hang ups or embrassment of being seen nude themselves or seeing others naked !

Yeah I wasn't brought up that way either even though my family are very open about sex but walking around naked just seems wrong infront of my kids

My mum still whips her clothes off to get changed whilst mid conversation with me so I guess never? Haha

My two boys share a room so when our youngest (9months) wakes in the morning I don't bother getting dressed after sleeping naked, so my 3 yr old sees me naked. I do try to cover up if he's staring though cause I feel weird haha.

He still walks around naked lol or pants around his ankles saying "mummy you need to wipe my bum"

your children will let you know when it's a problem for them.

in my experience anyway, my son stopped wanting me to help him after a bath & would ask if I was dressed before coming into my bedroom ~ I think he was about 9/10 at the time.

My kids see me naked and it doesnt bother them, they're 4, 6 & 8yo. I dont sleep with any pjs on so when they barge into my bedroom in the mornings I'm naked, theyre so used to it and dont bat an eyelid lol

If any of the were to seem uncomfortable or say anything I would cover up and tell them to knock before coming into my room

I used to hate my body and never let anyone see me naked. I didn't even like my then husband seeing me naked. Now I'm a bigger woman with 2 girls I seem to hate to love my body and I'm always pottering about naked. Although now my almost 14 year old doesn't like it so much I don't so often just when in and out of the bath or shower
