"Maybe try under the Freedom of Information Act. Got no clue if it covers that sort of info, but might be worth a try. But in all honesty, you've probably got no chance, there is little to gain for handing out the information, and every company I've worked for would tell you to jog on. " I will try,and I should imagine you are right with what you say...(although it was quite a serious complaint, where a volunteer for the shop nearly took his own life, because of the manager)

"The FOI act only covers public bodies I think." Thats correct. Why do you want to know what disciplinary action they took? It's none of your business. You made a complaint and they took action. How they deal with their staff is up to them. If she admitted it and is still employed that's up to them.

"Yes they could tell you if you shout loud enough They always just say its a internal matter, and that its not a public issue..." They say that because that's the case. I think they can/will say if they were dismissed but beyond that you won't get told anything

"Try nipping in the shop and asking one of the other staff if they've heard anything. Discreetly of course" This is the only option, Unless you are the injured party there is no reason for them to tell you anything. Having said that there are only really three options open to them in the way of sanctions, dismiss, demote, or move. shouldn't be hard to find out which they used.

Re-train, verbal warning, written warning, period of re_iew etc can all be used as performance management tools

Question is did you get the real story. And no you have no right to the private information of another person. Also how grim is it you wish somone to have to go through a suicidal episode to validate your point

" A question is so much easier to answer when you are given all the information. I highly doubt they will tell you a dicky bird. Your friend on the other hand may get a little more info than the generic "we have taken your complaint seriously and took appropriate action". But that is only a might.

"Yes they could tell you if you shout loud enough They always just say its a internal matter, and that its not a public issue..." Than that's what it is people are allowed privacy and over a disciplinary matter it seems fair.
