A bewildering choice outthere but any recommendations would be welcome.

Not too massive 4 person.

Don't want a cheap one either

Have a look on ebay, I saw a 6/8 man tent with 3 bedrooms for about £50.

I know it is bigger than what you want, but you can always use the spare bed room as a naughty room for the farters.

The ones that inflate instead if using poles are great although a little expensive.

I use a pop up one and it's great (till I try to un pop it).

Believe it or not the 6man tent from Tesco is pretty good and has decent space and isn't overly expensive

remember that you'll be sleeping in this, in the UK, in the summer......i suggest you get something fairly decent and at least a berth or two bigger than the usual number of users, so you're not cramped and have room for storing stuff.

The Vango Icarus 500 (5 berth) and 600 (6 berth) have been best sellers for about 4 years now and are bloody excellent tents. large sleeping quarters with divider, large living area that you can stand up in, built in ground sheet for water protection and 1 person can pitch it in 15-20 minutes. you can also but extras like an awning/sun canopy.

Cost for the 500 is about £150-200 mark and a bit more for the 600

Cheers we are looking at the vango Skye very 400 or 500 but 500 to big to put up in garden to dry off if it's been raining when in use/taking down

We have the Vango Icarus 500 with the add-on awning.

Even though there are only two of us we found the tent alone to be a little cramped in inclement weather.

We bought the awning & it transformed the tent, much more space & we have somewhere we can sit, eat, drink etc & watch the world go by.

Having said that we are planning on upgrading over the winter as we have tent envy!

I'm planning on an upgrade too- but i'm going for the campervan with drive away awning option (not sure where i'm going to drive the awning away to yet though )

Choice of tent depends where and how long you are using it. If its just sleeping space for festival type events then cheep dome tent is the answer pitched in 10 minutes and away to the bar with you. If you intend to set up for the week on a camp site then something much more comfortable and much bigger is needed.

Also keep in mind transporting it. I have 5 different tents all transportable by motorbike. Ranging from just big enough for luggage and me. To 4 man you can stand up in with large porch area to sit and watch the world go by in.
