The local authorities all over the UK need to pull their figure out. They're here to uphold justice. If they can't do that in fear of being called racist or to be politically correct, especially where there is clear evidence of abuse - they'd be failing everybody and not just children.

I presume this thread's purpose isn't supposed to be hijacked with such expletive deleted but is about a wider debate on the somewhat incessant number of multi-agency cases which could and should have been avoided.

Whatever folk think of the anger and hurt felt for the victims, I can guarantee it's a small percentage in comparison to the hurt that will live forever by those who had suffered at the hands of such depraved behaviour.

Men would be taught not to rape, they would learn through example. It would be a simple but effective lesson. Once a small minority of men got in in ther heads that rapeing some one wil result indeath, i believe the rape rate will reduce.

i had experiance of this with my eldest daughter at aged thirteen ,she was going through a rebelious phase after finding out she wasnt mine ( thanks to her layabout sperm donor ). we didnt notice it at first she had new clothes wasnt hanging with her old freinds seemed to be going into manchester center a lot then she had a brand new phone when questioned her new "boyfreind " had given it too her so they could keep in touch he was called bobby and lived in bolton . she with drew further away from us and outside of school days our house became a place to change and then she would be gone sometimes all weekend usualy staying at her freind liannes . then one day liannes mum contacted me to ask where the girls were and did i know who her new boyfreind was as lianees sister ahd reportd she had bruises and marks on her back arms and thighs and she was concerned . my daugter came hoe that night and was confronted where opon we found out that the new "boyfriend " was infact twenty and yes they were sexualy active we asked had he ever hit her she said no but we could see marks on her wrists asked why she had r= then she said they had had a row after she didnt want sex and he had squeezed her arms to force her to perform oraly . at this point the police were called staments taken etc but she didnt know his real name or his address just that they met at the trafford center and would drive to a house in bolton . police did there best but said they could but could not charge as she refused to help them at all luckily for us the death of her grandmother seems to have jolted my daughter to her sens and she grew away from lianne and that circle of friends . unfortunatly for liannaes family it didnt go as well and there intervention caused her to run away regulay usualy being found at some flop house or other several days later the last time she vanished completely and wasnt located for five years where she was found working in a brothel in middlesboro for her "boyfriend" having beem paased around as a sex toy for years as she was now 18 and refused to cooperate there was nothing the police could do but offer counciling and rebhab .

Oh my feelings on what the punishment should be for those who molest children are unashamedly draconian, and i believe would make torquemada smile. They shouldn't be witnessed, though..... Unless perhaps by the victims, if they so choose and are mentally and emotionally capable of witnessing. Public executions are a step too far.

Let me make this totally clear. I don't condone any form of child molestation, exploitation, adult rape/abuse etc etc.

But recently its staggering how much of this shit is coming to light what with Jimmy Saville, Rolf Harris etc and of course the horrible stuff in Rotherham.

This kind of behaviour is clearly not an isolated occurrence. Its widespread and is nothing new.

The Ancient Egyptians were well know for paedophilia and incest. Rape during war is still common place and prostitution rackets are still rife all over the world

predators will not control their impulses, they are 100% selfish and only care to fulfil their own desires and don't care whether someone else wants to fulfil them or not (or is emotionally mature enough to be able to make that choice). it's debateable whether these type of people can control themselves, i personally think they could but choose not to because of their mindset of feeling no remorse.

We had the EDL scum turn up in Stevenage earlier in the year after a muslim was arrested in connection with sex offences. Arrested not convicted. There have been several convictions within a 10 or 15 mile radius for similar offences and the EDL are nowhere. Hijacking paedophilia and turning it in to a religious issue is truly dispicable

It happens, the guys convicted played the racial harassment card when arrested and without firm proof early on the authorities backed off what fools they were. I can imagine that some very senior cops and others have won awards, all the time whilst letting down these poor kids. Police heads should roll, any awards to chiefs cancelled alongside their pensions. It has been officially sanctioned nightmares of the highest order, totally disgusting. Junior staff were applauded for persistently raising the issue upwards but were suppressed - I hope there is shame at the top and action is taken immediately. It is unreal to think that this has happened and known about.

Are the Police, Rotherham social services, Rotherham's political leaders (I use that term very loosely) to blame? A resounding YES.

While the ultimate responsibility lies with the perpetrators that isn't the issue here. This is child abuse on an industrial scale that has been covered up for (at least) 16 years. All of the above knew what was happening and chose to do nothing for fear of upsetting the local Muslim community. Two previous reports were either ignored, suppressed, or both. Local Muslim leaders preferred to deflect responsibility rather than take action to out the so called "bad apples"

That is the real issue here. Child abuse has been around as long as mankind and sadly always will be, but on this scale, for this long, in one town, by members of one community is unprecedented.

As we have also seen in Rochdale, Oxford, and other towns and cities, this is the tip of a very large iceberg and it is time Muslim leaders accepted that there is a serious problem with some of their young men and took firm action. Police, Social Services, and other agency's need to bin the PC book and start doing what they are paid for, and politicians need to speak out without counting the potential votes won or lost.

Sadly I don't see that happening any time soon. Of course lessons will be learned, the most important ones being: Don't get caught, and cover your arse.

I find it interesting that when celebrity sex offenders like Rolf Harris and Max Clifford have been discussed on here certain people have been hapoy to victim blame or question the credibility of evidence in historical cases, yet those same people are some of the most vocal critics of the perpetrators here. I haven't read through the thread as I think I can guess how this one went.

Rotherham, and other areas, have systematically failed children and young people - mostly girls and young women.

It's not just a failure of the authorities but of the families that have little care for their children, to social services overwhelmed and not taking the right actions right through to the police dismissing each case where the child was disbelieved!

Then there are the cruel, exploitative criminals (whatever nationality or ethnicity) who prey on the vulnerable and needy: children who crave attention and love.

The truly shocking thing about this is that it went on for so long (some 16 years) with everyone turning a blind eye.

The South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner should resign. He was part of that chain in Rotherham turning a blind eye.

Let's deport their parents. They abandoned their children to be able to wander the streets and be picked up by grooming gangs at 9 and 11.

Justice would be to ensure that we learn from their experiences, that we listen to children when they say this is happening to them, that we give a fuck when we see children wandering the streets on their own.

We don't universal parent anymore. People act like I am strange for pulling children up on their behaviour in public but I also check they are ok.

We all have to learn to give a fuck before it's a big press story. These children were ignored by their parents, social services, teachers, police. They were abandoned. Deport the lot of them then.

How are you so certain there aren't white men grooming Muslim girls? I'm not so certain. I don't know what you do but I know the communities and things I have done, the knowledge I have and I can't say that it doesn't happen.

I know there are plenty of cases arising more and more often regarding Muslim paedophile gangs targeting white girls. I haven't read one single instance of white men doing the same to Muslim children, so we'll address the issue that we actually know exists. For all their faults the BNP and EDL warned of these things happening years ago and were called sick racists, but they're being proven right. What are the Muslim community doing about it? I haven't heard them condemn these crimes, or if they are they've been extremely quiet.

I also know this is a widespread issue, as I've seen when walking past underage nightclubs scores of Muslim men hanging about trying to pick up and harassing young white girls in both Glasgow and Edinburgh. I work beside a Muslim women who herself has said the men don't do this to girls of their own religion, as Muslim girls are _iewed upon as someone to marry whereas white girls are _iewed as sexual objects as they don't follow the same values. This a major problem that needs addressing.
