"8am is a reasonable time to be working in his garden. why should he adapt his day because your OH chooses to work in a pub?" anyone that works antisocial hours surely has to accept this sort if thing as an unavoidable inevitability?

"I'm not asking him to stop because he knows oh is sleeping, just be more considerate and maybe start later or at least give a bit of warning, I'd love to be ur neighbours and start drilling and sawing at 7.30-8 and see how you respond" why have you moved the time by half an hour?? lol

An awful lot of people are up by 0800. A neighbour from hell is living next to someone who parties all night

For you though it is & you need to work out a solution ~ can u maybe move bedrooms when OH is on nights, would that work?

"And why shouldn't he have a BBQ? When you say a lot how many 1 or 2 a week? " My neighbours must hate me then I tended to flash the BBQ up most nights last summer!!

"I work nights and it's inevitable people do stuff to their property in the day 8am isn't unreasonable but it is early, when people used to wake me at 8-9 strumming their lawns I took it on the chin, then one Sunday morning when I finished at 6am I got my strummer out soon made them think about their actions " but that is an unreasonable hour, in fact i am sure it beaches noise pollution regulations and is quite petty of you

We now have a 4 class society, upper middle working scum" Really ? So all non working are scum then An interesting view methinks Gimp

"In situations like this, things annoy us because we want them to annoy us. You OP have developed the mind-set that your neighbour is doing stuff just to wind you up... and thus you get yourself wound up. Your neighbour isn't doing anything out of the ordinary... but you are choosing to make it an issue.... which in turn only brings you down, diminishing your quality of life and stressing you out. The sooner YOU learn to change YOUR mind-set, the sooner you won't see your neighbour as being one from hell.... and you may just have a happier life." No he is doing things on purpose, he told the kids next door to him to 'fuck off and play down ur own end' He reported another to environmental health as they had flies in their garden, and yes it's all true

"I have the most rude, noisy and down right ignorant neighbour, other half works in a pub and quite often dosent get in till early hours (neighbour knows this), yet he feels the need to demolish sheds, cut up slabs and generally make a noise at 8am, he is the type to wait till I have a line of washing out then start a fire/BBQ :- " Pete would have gone round and had words if it was ours. The problem is if you let people get away with things its gets worse than better.

"but the fact is he isn't doing anything wrong by doing work at 8am. were the kids causing a nuisance? perhaps there were a lot of flies around, it can be unpleasant if people dont take their bins out and there are a lot of flies. nothing you have said has indicated a neighbour from hell" No the kids were going up and down the private lane outside our row of cottages that we all pay to have to park our cars on. You are mad if u think that calling environmental health on somebody for having flies in their garden is on, as for my oh coming in and being considerate with noise etc yes he is, we don't have a car so no engine noise or doors slamming, if u think my neighbour isn't that bad why do u insist on commenting

" Oh love get a life, don't think he needs you sticking up for him if that's what he wanted Flies are everywhere, is summer, I bet u have flies in ur garden/area should u be reported too ? No and that was my point in the beginning, it's petty I have never said I'm hard done by and have sympathy for those with worse neighbours but in MY OPINION he is a neighbour from hell
