Why are people so afraid of the block button?

There's so many threads where people are complaining about occurrences on the site where it would help them.

Too many messages in the inbox? Block those messaging you who you'd never in a million years want to get to know.

Rude replies after saying 'thanks but no thanks'? Hit block and don't stress.

Messages from people totally outside your preferences that aren't filterable? Block.

Regular _iews by profiles with no pics, no text, onsite for over a year and status updates along the lines of 'looking to unload' or 'want to fuck' (other updates are available)? Block.

It's nothing personal. It's actually helping make others aware you don't want to chat/meet/swap pics/add a total stranger as a friend.

It saves people time - can't message you? They'll be able to contact someone who might be interested. If they've messaged and then find themselves blocked? It's the definitive answer to whether no reply might mean they're still possibly interested.

It's nothing more than a permanent filter. A tool the site makes available that possibly just because it has negative connotations doesn't get used when it's the perfect solution to many a problem.

So embrace your block button. Love it for the helpful little chap (or chapess!) he/she is!

And should you go to _iew a profile and find you're blocked? Don't assume you've done something horrendous, you've a face only your mother would love, or that your fetish for tartan spandex budgie smugglers and your love of being whipped with celery is that off putting.

Maybe you're just not their cup of tea?

For couples, probably

Have no feelings of guilt when using the block button and the very last thing we worry about is being blocked.

Embrace the block button we say, it can be your best tool available here.

But as we wanted a 3some for bev we chatted to one guy who said hed get another from this site he gave us his name and we couldn't find him turned out wed blocked him, she met them both and the blocked guy was a real gent and great experienced fuck, so just be carefull not to block too quickly

I really don't give it a second thought. There are so many others out there....and I always block for a reason.

Agreed. I now block anyone who I say 'thanks but no thanks' to in case they want to get arsey about it, anyone who is married and playing alone without consent, anyone asking for a meet in the first message, amongst other things. My block list is huge!!

I'm also quite happy when people block me if I'm not what they're looking for. Saves either of us wasting our time.

I am very happy to say after years on here I have not one on my block list. Just find turning filters up sorts things and cant be arsed so block as takes time , lol Maybe if someone really got to me here I would but so fare I am happy doing my own thing and I get a lot of mail over the year .

lol makes me smile too . Some see it as a power game I am sure at time maybe bored here nothing more to do with there time .. Its the block game . Maybe if some ones nasty or mailing 24/7 but if you don't mail back they just get bored and stop.

I've no issues blocking or being blocked... Only thing I'd add is that if I am hitting the block button I'll create a private note to say why so I know if I ever click on that profile again for some reason (like they have meet request up) why I pulled the trigger

Snap....I have a huge block list too as I use it in a very similar way. I also block people off their forum posts & status updates, I've even blocked someone on the strength of their user name.....it's my block button and I'll use it how I want too.

Ran out of blocks few years ago. So if i block a new nob npw, an old one gets unblocked and can talk to me in chat so i dont use chat now as it can get embarresing

Thing is you block and if they really wished to mail, Some may make new profiles it could go on and on . Filters are better friends then block.

No issues hitting the block button and I'm sure we are on a few block lists ourselves which we give 0 f*cks about.

We have even been know to pre-emptively block the odd forum arse just in case.

Shame you can't sticky this thread as someone has said.

I dont think its being afraid of the block button... more the indignation that someone has the audacity to use the block button on them.........

so more a case of "i'm allowed to use it, but how dare someone use it on ME!!!!"

anyway I only block in the cases of sheer "fuckwitery".... otherwise I use the private notes to vent my spleen... plus a great way to remember as well...

Yep... Most of my block list has notes, although there are some from before private notes function was added so I guess I'll never know what they did to get themselves banished!!

I use the filters which cuts down the number of messages I get, I'm not bothered by people continuously _iewing my profile that have been here a year as they don't message me, I only block those who are abusive or continuously random friendship request or continuously message me every now and again even when I have said no, and every now and again, I have a cull and remove some. I use the note facility all the time so if anyone tries again with the same introductory message, I can tell them they have wasted their time and why.

I don't actually see the point in blocking everyone that I am not interested in me, its no big deal and I don't continuously moan or whinge about it either, got better things to do like having sex for example
