My attention span seems to be getting less!. I can't seem to watch tv without having to fiddle with something, such as phone, tablet or laptop. I tend to get distracted easily, even at work, and it's getting worse.

How do I increase my attention span?

Even if I move away, I'd end up fiddling with something or my mind wandering. I'm finding it a little concerning.

Even if your attention span is fully shot you can restrain your behaviour. Not being able to is indicative of another problem. Like most things that we do, you can also improve your behaviour, like driving, sex etc. Extend the durations that youre doing things for progressively - obviously youre going to stick to the rule not to multi task whilst youre focusing on one thing only. Habits are easy to form, just make them good and worthwhile ones. Focus, focus, focus and keep extending your staying power.

I find I do this all the time unless it's something I'm really interested in.

Try to target tv viewing to things you actually want to watch & leave you're gadgets in another room.

Also reading helped me improve my attention span.

I'm also worse when I'm tired so try to get enough sleep.

I'm not sure it's your age, it's more about a busy brain & you have to un busy it.

they say women get like this once they have kids - dont think this applies lol but maybe you have a lot going on and need to find a way to relax and unwind - i go for a stroll has helped me many times to get 'stuff' out of my head

Find something that you can fiddle with that doesn't need your attention. Crochet, worry beads? Kind of wean yourself off? Wonder if it's because people have to multitask all the time.

Mindfulness meditation. Some good books and courses - even apps - out there. It's all about focusing and learning to concentrate on one thing at a time. So if you are eating, think about eating, not the hundred and one jobs to do - think about them when it is time.

Each time your thoughts drift away, and they well, do not admonish yourself, or think "I am useless at this". Accept it as what thoughts do, and come back to the thing you were thinking about.

It derives from Buddhist meditation, but it is similar to many other forms - just with the religion taken out.

Don't you have anything else he can fiddle with?
