Perceived status rant

I have to rant on here as I would love to do so on facefook but i'll get in trouble with some of my 'friends'.

So here goes. At the weekend I was belittled for my job by someone full of self importance. This said person is a teacher and stated that they were more important than me. Sorry, but in my opinion all jobs need doing, and although you might get paid more, get more time off, have to study longer blah blah blah you are not more worthy than a trucker, a cleaner, a hairdresser or a chef, whatever!

You may perceive yourself as more valuable, but each and every individual who works is valuable! And even those who don't. Rant over, thanks for youur time.

Self importance is something I'm not very good at (one of the reasons I'm not great at profiles) nor the people I tend to surround myself around, it's something I get annoyed with myself at times. The art of self promotion rules at times

I get treate fluke shit by the general oh kic at work when I am helping doing vegetation clearance or routine bridge maintainence, but they quickly change their tune when they find out I have a masters and I am ex forces to boot!

Agreed. I lost count of the number of times I was belittled or insulted while working behind a bar, purely for the work I was doing.

Usually people who are like this are very insecure. If you have genuine confidence in yourself you have no need to put others down.

Every job is important to the community, no matter what it is. I work with the general public too. Most are good, but the snooty or ill-temper ones, I kill with kindness.

Try not to let it bother you - I know it's easier said than done, but having a good rant, does get it out of your system.

I like this...sometimes the perception is that having confidence means you have to shout about yourself, what your doing...it's a big old rat race if that's the case.
