It's official. I genuinely hate my job, the environment and the staff. Sat here waiting to start a long shift really getting me down but can't find another job! Am I just being a girl, think everyone doesn't like work really? The thought of going in makes me sad. Lucky to have a job though

not many people like having to go to work if they are completely honest about it, its just a case of having too, until you win the lottery.

I was beginning to hate my job so I left, I was fortunate in that I was in a position to do that but I will have to find something else eventually.

I am a woman not a girl but I put up with it as cheerfully as possible for as long as I could. I made sure that my leisure time was fun so that I saw the work as a means to an end and I tried to value my colleagues or some of them at least.

I don't see what being a girl has to do with it though.

I really dislime my job but love the guys I work with.

Short staffing and serious danger of being assaulted every day does nothing to make me more enamoured.

You're not on your own there. Luckily I managed to find another job and I am now working my notice. After 17 years its a shame that I feel this way now but theres nothing worse than not liking your job...!

I used to hate my job so I thought sod it, I still have 30 odd years of working and I want to do something I enjoy so I retrained. Have now been doing this job for 2 years and I love it! Just hope I feel the same way in 5, 10 years time! X

"good things come to those who wa…... WORK their asses off and go out and get it"

If you hate your job that much, there is only you who can do something about it, yes it may take time, but there will be something out there if you go out and look for it

I didn't think it was sinister.

Why do you think it's girlish behaviour to not want to work ?

I utterly love my job most of the time but took a risk a few years ago when I was in a job that made me miserable by resigning without anything new lined up. It was utterly terrifying but I was lucky and it worked out. I don't know if I'd take that risk in the current economic climate though; if I was in a similar situation now I think I'd stick at it until I had a definite plan.

I was the same, dropped out of my A levels and an accounting course because they bored me. Then lacked enthusiasm for every other job I ever had after that. Then I did Open university in something that interested me then moved on to a brick Uni. Now halfway through a six year degree and no intention of not completing. Just have to find the right thing for you, then you'll be motivated.

You do realise that with a CV showing 3 abandoned degrees and that many jobs you are in real danger of making yourself unemployable?

Seriously you need to stop whinging and knuckle down particularly as before you even started this job you'd expressed concerns about the high attrition rate

too much is taken literally on the forums instead of light hearted as intended... Why do people get offended so easily and then the threat goes into a political debate rather then discussing the threat itself

Because it's a forum and people can take the discussion any way they choose and casual sexism is the top of a slippery slope.

MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire)

I love both my jobs, and am training to add another diverse string to my bow.

Work supporting charities locally, single mum, and am training to be a gym instructor.

If your job is so utterly crap, why not stick at it but add in some study to do something you love, and head that way?

As someone who previously interviewed for many posts, I'd pass you by with your job history unless you showed real drive, desire and aptitude to the job I was interviewing for (and proof you'd stick it - ie having completed some training, courses etc for it)

I have been in my job since I was 19 and don't particularly enjoy it but the pay is insane.

The plan is:

Pay my car off then drop my mortgage term to 10 years maybe even less and then once that's paid find something less demanding that I enjoy more

I work to live not live to work, while I don't enjoy working so much I certainly enjoy living and working hard allows me to live how I want

Catch 22 really
