Apologies for all the topic posts today, I'm in a chatty mood today lol.

Was wondering if there were any wrestling fans here and if anyone will be watching Summerslam tonight/recording it and watching tomorrow?

Cesaro isn't gonna be televised so forget it, the guy should be main eventing by now.

Yeah, sorry should have mentioned that lol. Although there's TNA and lots of independent wrestling knocking about too. I just watch WWE though.

"Cesaro isn't gonna be televised so forget it, the guy should be main eventing by now."

They did really drop the ball with him lately. Back at WM30 he got a huge reaction, now he'll probably be a lumberjack for rollins/ambrose while Swagger is in one of the biggest matches of the night. Never thought I'd be saying that a few months ago haha!

Yeah Royal Rumble is still on every January. This years was quite bad/funny because the guy who won it and was so bad (not bad as in 'bad guy' but bad as in shit haha) the audience booed the event out of the building and eventually they had to change the later shows to include someone everyone liked more.

They didn't drop the ball, word is they stopped pushing him so Reigns could be elevated instead. Cesaro is wrestling RVD on the pre-show, but I have a sneaking suspicion he MAY be involved in the main event somehow.

Oh yeah, Reigns is their main priority right now totally. Bit annoying as there are a lot more talented guys who should be main eventing. I'm hoping WWE realise that if they keep doing what they're doing atm with Reigns, he's gonna turn into the next Cena and get boos by wrestlemania time (hoping dearly it's Brock v Bryan for the title at mania next year, not Brock v Reigns which it's looking like it will be)

Reigns is as bad on the mic as Cesaro and nowhere near him in terms of wrestling ability, literally the only things he has going for him are his looks and deep voice.

I'm thinking about staying up and watching. I'm currently inbetween jobs at the moment so I'm relishing the chance to stay up like I did when I was a little kid lol. Although I know if I do stay up then i'll fuck up my sleeping pattern (with me, once that's messed up, it's like that for weeks!)

"M has just shrieked in excitement when he remembered it was on!!"

I used to watch it all the time until about 7 years ago. My dad raised us on Saturday morning british wrestling. As we got the American WWF (now WWE) i enjoyed watching it live & even went to the first Summerslam where i was blessed with Bret Hart and others. Many an early morning at approx 0100 my dad would knock the door as he'd come to watch it with us (whether we were staying up or not lol)...

Would give a lot to do that again, sadly lost my dad 17 years ago, but before that i had the pleasure of taking him to watch the wrestling live with him in Birmingham....

Happy days, thanks OP for reminding me

Huge WWE fan however, since Wrestlemania I've been a little bored with it. I love Bray Wyatt atm but feel nothing for the new wrestlers brought in since him. Also....when is his brother Bo Dallas gonna move up to the big leagues? He's awesome!!!!

Bray Wyatt is great, he lost some steam after losing to john cena too much but he's only 26 so he'll have plenty of time to get back to the top hopefully. I'm a huge Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins fan. I hope Those two end be main eventing wrestlemania in a few years time.

Sadly I read a report that said Vince has lost interest in doing anything with Bo Dallas. Pretty much all the NXT people apart from Paige are gonna be standard people who don't move anywhere. I hope once Sami Zayn moves up to Raw and Smackdown they have something good planned for him. They've just signed some pretty interesting new guys for NXT too, so that should be getting more interesting in the next few months.

Huge fan and an Ex wrestler myself. Trained in the midlands and did all my rookie stuff at Butlins and small indy's.

Been very high on Luke Harper. He's nailed his gimmick and is obviously the next Bruiser Brody type. Looking forward to the main event (I have stream links for after work tomoz).

cezaro is on a slow build to be a super face, that's why they held him back for now so Reigns can get a crack at the whip. Daniel brian wont be back till at least survivor Series or the rumble if he needs the second surgery. Jericho should lose ttonight and set up a cage match/brawl for the next PPV.

I think Ziggler will have to wait for his title win and Dean Ambrose will get screwed so he can go make his movie.

Other than that, it's all up in the air lol

I don't personally watch it but my son is a big fan. I have been to a few wrestling events with my son but thankfully his girlfriend has taken over that task.

He's been watching it from a little boy and he watches WWE and TNA. I know he was thrilled when CM Punk shook his hand as he didnt stop going on about it for ages.

He spends a fair bit of money on it, has ringside seats etc, buys a lot of merchandise like tshirts and hoodies and has even bought replica belts

Read the after show report, and have to say that aside from Lesnat and the Rollins/Ambrose match, the show sounds like the utter pits.

Half and half lol. Watched it until about 2:30am then felt myself getting pretty tired and when I realised there was an hour and a half left, no way was I gonna make it til the end haha. So I went to sleep and watched the final 3 matches this morning. Actually re-watching it again right now. None of the matches are exemplary or 5 star technical showdowns or anything but in terms of story and excitement (Reigns/Orton is a bit of a snoozer though, picks up towards the end), they were all booked really well. Good PPV overall i'd say!

It stopped being a sport back in the 1920s. It's just a show, albeit a pretty athletic one. It's been a bit Meh up n down the last few years. 2012 was ace but its slowly slipping a bit

Its a little bit more than that but in general its is scripted its showmanship not dissimilar to watching acrobats at the circus. Sport though its not as there is no real competition.

It's not a sport, no. It's a mixture of story and athleticism. Basically interactive sports theatre.

The wrestlers perform their art but it takes an immense amount of talent to do what they do and put their bodies through that almost every night of the week.

For any film fans out there, there's a director called Darren Aronofsky, he made a film called The Wrestler with Mickey Rourke, then after that he made a film called Black Swan with Natalie Portman. Originally, it was intended to be one film (albeit with story beats dramatically somewhat) about a wrestler who falls in love with a ballerina and how they put their bodies through so much torture for their art.
